In Salem, Oregon an elderly man pulled a gun on a number of Antifa protesters who vandalized his truck, breaking out windows and spraying paint on his windshield. But police arrested him while seemingly ignoring the antagonists.
The truck was part of a Trump-supporting caravan that was driving past the capitol building in Salem on Sunday.
Antifa members broke out the truck’s taillights, broke at least one window, and sprayed paint across the windshield. The driver proceeded to get out of the vehicle. He was open-carrying and when he saw what they had done and realized they were threatening him with pepper spray and batons, he pulled his gun and told them to get away from him.
The attackers backed off fast with one hiding behind a tree. They spewed expletives at the man, repeatedly threatening him. When he saw the police and they ordered him to drop his weapon, the man tossed his gun into the bed of his pickup, put up his hands, and got down on the ground to show he wasn’t a threat to the officers.

The police were quick to cuff and arrest the man but they apparently did nothing about the Antifa mob that attacked his truck. The protesters were shouting their glee at his arrest and cheerfully referred to each other as “comrades.” They called the man a “Proud Boy” and a “Nazi” according to video footage from the scene.

The man was evidently released from custody in the end. He was allowed to return to his vandalized truck. Antifa members were not happy over the development and cried racism.

That was just one tense encounter that occurred on Sunday in Salem between Antifa and conservatives. A number of arrests were made but the police were vague on who was arrested and just how many they took into custody.
The Antifa members were primarily dressed in all black with masks and helmets adorned with anti-fascist stickers. They waited for hours for the caravan to arrive from a rally that took place in Sandy, Oregon. The “Freedom” rally was billed as an event to honor those who “fought for our freedoms.” It was a “Back the Blue” car parade that flew American, Thin Blue Line, and Trump flags.
Antifa threw objects at a number of vehicles as they drove by with American flags. They broke some of the cars’ windows. There is no word if anyone was hurt by their vandalism.
At least three protesters were taken into custody, according to police. Andrew Alan Foy, 34 for second-degree disorderly conduct and second-degree criminal trespass, Nathan McFarland, 33, for disorderly conduct in the second degree, and Anthony Villaneda,18, for five counts of unlawful pointing of a laser. Many of the Antifa crowd were allegedly seen carrying batons and other items that could be considered weapons.
The police closed Court Street citing “ongoing reports of criminal activity.” They warned over a loudspeaker that if individuals did not immediately disperse, the police would utilize “impact weapons, munitions and tear gas” to subdue them and they would be arrested.
About 150-200 “heavily armed” Antifa members were gathered at the Oregon State Capitol, according to the Salem Police Department.

“The risk of violence has increased as the opposing protestors are expected to arrive in large numbers. We have received reports that vehicles driving past the capitol are being struck with balloons filled with paint and green lasers being pointed at drivers,” stated police.
3⃣/4⃣ We are advising residents/visitors to avoid the capitol mall area. For those in the area, please remain cautious/aware given the circumstances. @ORStatePolice, @mscointheknow + SPD are monitoring the situation and prepared to act in the interest of the public’s safety.
