Vicious brawl breaks out at Fla. airport between two women over refusal to follow mask mandate

An “all-out brawl” took place Wednesday at a Florida airport, in a scene that’s become all too common in America today. A scene exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic, which just hit the one-year mark.

Even though law enforcement was right there, two women got into a vicious fight at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport — one of them was escorted from a plane along with a friend for allegedly refusing to wear masks. In the video, they are wearing masks but not covering their noses.

The other woman was among the passengers forced to de-board the delayed flight and she began scuffling with the women removed from the flight after an exchange of words, WSVN 7News reported.

The women removed reportedly taunted the other woman to hit her, and before you knew it, hair was being pulled and punches were flying.

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies were standing right there and while they were quick to intervene and separate the combatants, the blows rained down.

According to BSO investigators, deputies escorted the women forced off a flight for not following the mask mandate back to the terminal, where frustrated passengers waited.

The pair were met with boos and jeers, according to the Fox affiliate.

A traveler who identified himself as Paul told 7News he couldn’t understand why the violence ramped up so quickly.

“Fighting for what? What are you fighting over?” he said. “And they’re total strangers. These people didn’t know each other before? I don’t understand.”

WSVN noted that there was a recent incident at Miami International Airport, with two women getting into a fistfight with federal agents who in the process of removing them from a plane.

Investigators reportedly said one of the suspects threatened an officer with a weapon.

The women now face charges of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer with violence, and appeared Thursday in bond court.

Fights at airports are happening all across the country, it seems.

In January, a Spirit Airlines employee was hospitalized after being attacked by three people trying to board a flight “without authorization.”

Here’s a scene from LaGuardia Airport in New York City, which took place on Aug. 31 2020 — airport employees did not attempt to intervene here.

As for masks, there was an incident in October aboard a Delta flight where a traveler got physical with a flight attendant for not properly wearing her protective face mask.
