The ostensible coronavirus relief bill that was passed by the Democrat-led Senate on Saturday, and is slated for a guaranteed final vote by the Democrat-led House on Tuesday, contains a spate of highly troubling provisions.
Provisions that, for the record, Senate Republicans tried to resolve via a litany of amendments that ultimately were rejected in their entirety by Senate Democrats.
One provision highlighted by Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton in the tweets below entitles incarcerated convicts — be they child molesters, rapists, murderers or even the left’s beloved terrorists — to a $1,400 stimulus check:

Sen. Bill Cassidy tried to resolve this problem by proposing an amendment that would have barred stimulus checks from being sent to prison inmates, but Senate Democrats predictably voted it down:

Another provision entitles federal employees to $1,400 per week in paid leave up to a maximum of 15 weeks (or $21,000 total) if they choose to stay home to teach their kids because their kids’ schools remain closed.
“While millions of parents struggle to work from home with kids who are enrolled in shuttered or partially shuttered schools, and millions more left the workforce or lost jobs to care for their at-home children, evidently parents in the federal bureaucracy need their own, personal Covid-19 bailout,” Forbes reported last month.
“Critics call it a personal bailout for bureaucrats,” the outlet added.
But that’s not even the worst part.
Speaking on Fox News‘ “Fox & Friends” last week, Cotton explained how federal employees will also be benefiting from yet another $1,400 check.
“They’re going to give a lot of Americans a $1,400 check. Federal employees are going to get that same check. They’re also going to get $1,400 a week, every single week, if their kids aren’t in school,” he said.
“So if you’re working in the middle of the country hard to make a living, you get one $1,400 payment once. If you’re a federal bureaucrat in Washington where your schools are still closed, you get one every single week. Talk about the swamp looking out for itself.”
Yet another troubling provision from Democrats’ ostensible coronavirus relief bill reportedly opens the door for illegal aliens to also collect a stimulus check.
Sen. Ted Cruz tried resolving this problem with an amendment proposed Saturday, but Democrats predictably voted it down as well:

The list of disturbing provisions goes on and on and on — and includes the following:
- $126 billion for schools, even if they remain closed,
- $45 billion for expanding Obamacare,
- $270 million for the National Endowments of the Arts and Humanities,
- $200 million for the Institute of Museum and Library Services,
- $10 million for the “preservation and maintenance of Native American languages,”
- $350 billion for state/local governments,
- $4 billion for “socially disadvantaged” farmers,
- $50 for environmental justice grants,
- $91 million for “outreach to student loan borrowers.
In a tweet posted Saturday, Pennsylvania Sen. Pat Toomey made the case that the bill is nothing more than an attempt to use “a health crisis as an excuse to ram through a left wing wishlist.”

Indeed, there’s a reason the bill is known among the right as “The Pelosi Payoff.”
On Saturday, Sen. Cruz also tried pushing through an amendment that would have given everyday families stuck with a closed school $10,000 so they could take their children to a school that’s open.
Amendment #969 would have specifically required that grant money appropriated for closed school districts be redirected into a special fund for families.
Parents who live in districts where schools remain closed would have then been able to apply for a $10,000 grant from the fund so that they could afford to send their children to schools that are open.
In a video posted to Twitter early Saturday morning, Cruz explained the reasoning behind his amendment.
