Tucker evokes ‘privileged’ Kamala Harris to explain lesson on ‘equity’ vs ‘equality’

Reacting to Joe Biden’s executive order about advancing equity and eliminating systemic barriers for underserved communities, Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson provided an informative history lesson about the difference between equity and equality. The principle of equity “has never been on starker display” given how the primarily left-wing, Democrat-supporting public school teachers’ unions are politically fighting tooth and nail against going back to in-person, classroom learning, he also insisted.

The loudest liberal voices calling for equity seemingly benefit from their own form of privilege, the Fox News host implied.

In his monologue, the ratings-powerhouse host of Tucker Carlson Tonight, among other things drew a distinction between two Democrats, President Andrew Jackson and Kamala Harris, and found Harris wanting in the video clips embedded below in two parts.

“Equity is what the British monarchy had; equality is what the American colonists wanted. Equality is what allowed Andrew Jackson to rise from a childhood of bitter poverty in the Carolina woods where he was born in [1767] and make it all the way to the White House. Andrew Jackson was tough, smart, and energetic. He lived a remarkable life, and America rewarded him for it. That’s equality. People like that rising to the top. Equity is the opposite,” Carlson recalled.

“Equity is what allowed Kamala Harris, the privileged child of two PhDs, to stay privileged and in the end to become one of the most powerful people on the planet despite having achieved nothing impressive or worthwhile over the span of 56 years. So Andrew Jackson and Kamala Harris, both Democrats, one the child of equality, the other the child of equity. That’s the difference in a nutshell. So to recap, equality challenges power; equity protects power.”

As he has done previously, Carlson then turned his attention to the nation’s powerful teachers’ unions who generally oppose efforts to reopen the schools to the detriment of students. “Naturally they are using the term equity to justify their own prerogatives as they hurt the weak, in this case, school children and their increasingly desperate parents.”

He highlighted how the United Teachers of Los Angeles president has smeared parents from all walks of life who want their kids to return to the classroom as benefiting from privilege. “Unlike entitled unionized teachers who can never be fired, those parents have privilege,” Carlson noted ironically.

“Calling out the privilege says the lady who can literally never be fired from her job no matter how she acts… She is interested in equity which means she’s interested in protecting her own unearned privilege by attacking the people below her…

“So purely because the most privileged government workers in the United States won’t have to work, an entire generation of children is being destroyed. That’s equity. The strong hurting the weak and calling it justice,” Carlson declared.

Carlson also made reference to an alleged attempt by a purported UTLA employee conducting something possibly like racial opposition research on a parent because of her vocal support for reopening the district’s mostly still-shuttered schools.

Tucker Carlson began his soliloquy by pointing out that Joe Biden has not held a solo press conference in 42 days into the administration, “the longest stretch of silence of any new president in at least a century.”
