‘Embodiment of the Swamp!’ Ted Cruz claps back at John Boehner for cheap shot ‘book blurb’

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) is not letting swampy John Boehner drag him down in the mud after the former GOP House Speaker ridiculed him in published comments.

Wording on the back cover of Boehner’s memoir under Cruz’s name displays the Ohio Republican’s assessment: “There is nothing more dangerous than a reckless a***hole who thinks he is smarter than everyone else.”

In response, the Harvard Law School graduate who was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2012, explained that he barely knows Boehner, who stepped down from Congress in October 2015.

Amazing. In my whole life, I haven’t spoke 50 words to John Boehner. But his lead book blurb is his latest insult directed at me. I guess he thinks that will help him sell books? I’m certainly not sad that House Members threw him out for being the embodiment of the Swamp!” Cruz tweeted.

The ex-politician seems perpetually ticked off at Cruz for some reason. For example, Boehner, now a marijuana lobbyist, allegedly spewed expletives at the senator while recording the audio version of the book, which is called “On the House: A Washington Memoir.”

Boehner, a member of Congress for about a quarter century, supposedly went off script and blurted out “Oh, and Ted Cruz, go f–k yourself.” In a tweet that contained no mention of Cruz, Boehner noted that he did the audiobook while imbibing a glass of red wine.

He has previously labeled Cruz “Lucifer in the flesh” and a “miserable son of a b*tch.”

In the aftermath of Cruz’s ill-advised Cancun excursion, former N.J. Gov. and presidential rival Chris Christie was perhaps channeling Boehner in a different context by claiming that the senator “has just not been a very likeable guy.”

Parenthetically, former President Donald Trump would have had some fun if he and Boehner’s terms overlapped, given the latter’s penchant for breaking down in tears in public. Thus, Trump might have found himself negotiating over legislation with both Cryin’ Chuck (Schumer) and Cryin’ John (instead of “Crazy Nancy”).

Separately on the book jacket, Boehner threw shade at an unnamed member of Congress: “Before I knew it, he had dropped off the couch and was on his knees. Right there on my rug. That was a first. His hands came together in front of him as if he were about to pray.”

If accurate, that’s not a good look.

According to several political reporters, including Jacob Rubashkin, that lawmaker is allegedly Mark Meadows, former chair of the House Freedom Caucus and later Trump White House chief of staff.
