‘Unbelievable!’ Trump surprises throngs of cheering supporters lining Florida street on Presidents’ Day

Former President Donald Trump made a surprise drive-by in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Presidents Day, waving to a large crowd who loudly cheered to show that their support is still strong for him.

What’s being reported as an impromptu moment occurred Monday near Trump’s Palm Beach home. The gathering lined the street a few miles from Mar-A-Lago. It was reportedly to honor Trump on Presidents’ Day and to celebrate his second impeachment acquittal.

Trump’s motorcade drove past the throng of supporters and he could be seen waving and giving a thumbs up to them from inside his vehicle. They wore MAGA hats and shirts while waving American flags. His supporters proudly displayed Trump banners while chanting “USA! USA!”

The former president was acquitted on Saturday. He was charged with one count of inciting insurrection in connection to the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. Though 197 Republicans in the House opposed impeachment, 10 GOP lawmakers joined 222 Democrats who voted for it. In the end, seven Republican senators voted last weekend to convict the former president. Every single Democrat also voted for it as well. The final tally was 57 to 43. Trump’s detractors did not reach the 67 vote threshold to convict.

Over a million people and counting have watched videos on YouTube showing the Trump celebration in Florida. In contrast, Biden’s Presidents Day speech has received approximately 82,000 views. Comments are disabled for the video. Currently, there are 1,900 likes and 16,000 dislikes.

Trump issued a statement after his acquittal stating that this was just the beginning of “MAGA.” He also said that he would announce his plans for the future in the months ahead.

“Our historic, patriotic and beautiful movement to Make America Great Again has only just begun. In the months ahead, I have much to share with you, and I look forward to continuing our incredible journey together to achieve American greatness for all of our people,” Trump said in his statement.

The former president conveyed his “deepest thanks” to the Republicans in the Senate. He said they “stood proudly for the Constitution we all revere and for the sacred legal principles at the heart of our country.”

“I also want to convey my gratitude to the millions of decent, hardworking, law-abiding, God-and-Country loving citizens who have bravely supported these important principles in these very difficult and challenging times,” Trump declared.

He slammed what he called the “latest phase of the greatest witch hunt in the history of our country.”

“It is a sad commentary on our times that one political party in America is given a free pass to denigrate the rule of law, defame law enforcement, cheer mobs, excuse rioters, and transform justice into a tool of political vengeance, and persecute, blacklist, cancel and suppress all people and viewpoints with whom or which they disagree,” Trump intoned.

“I always have, and always will, be a champion for the unwavering rule of law, the heroes of law enforcement, and the right of Americans to peacefully and honorably debate the issues of the day without malice and without hate,” he added.
