Little Johnnie is an eight-year-old black student in Portland. His math teacher posed a question for the class: “How much is two plus two?” Johnnie answered: “Seven.” Should the teacher do her job and correct him? Hell no, says the State of Oregon. If you correct him, it is an example of racism. It will hurt little Johnnie’s feelings and he will grow up with low self-esteem. The real question—apparently ignored by the Oregon academics—is, will it hurt Johnnie’s feelings to be a moron for the rest of his life?

Why is this happening to poor little Johnnie? The answer is that insane government overreach on race and gender is contaminating the American social landscape. In Johnnie’s case, the Oregon Department of Education has instituted a “math equity” training for teachers so they can “dismantle racism in mathematics.” Helping Johnnie find the right answer is considered a symbol of white supremacy. Oregon’s training, says The New York Post, encourages teachers not to give Johnnie a single correct answer, but to come up with at least two answers that might solve the problem. As far as Oregon is concerned, “The concept of mathematics being purely objective is unequivocally false.” Teachers in Oregon have a responsibility to “identify and challenge the ways that math is used to uphold capitalist, imperialist, and racist views.” The focus on getting the “right” answer and requiring students to “show their work” are racist, didn’t you know.

“This is simply the latest in a string of ‘anti-racism’ teachings that insist the core of education is based on white supremacy,” says Ashe Schow in The Daily Wire. It is also the latest in the proliferation of critical race theory, the view that the US is inherently racist, that minorities and women are oppressed by whites and especially by white men, and that white people achieve their economic and political objectives at the expense of people of color. Angela Onwuachi-Willig, an “expert” on critical race theory at Boston University School of Law, told the Boston Globe that, “Race and racism are basically baked into everything we do in our society. It’s embedded in our institutions. It’s embedded in our minds and hearts.” And where does it originate? With white people, naturally. Critical race theory says if you are white, you are racist whether you realize it or not. Congratulations.

President Trump directed government agencies to purge critical race theory from federal employee training. Joe Biden has reversed Trump’s directive. White government employees are once again being subjected to a racial inquisition. The Treasury Department held a training session telling employees that “virtually all white people contribute to racism.” Sandia National Labs—which produces our nuclear arsenal—held a three-day reeducation camp for white males, teaching them how to deconstruct their “white male culture” and forcing them to write letters of apology to women and people of color.

The City of Seattle is holding a segregated training session for white city employees that will train them to “undo their whiteness” and affirm their “complicity in racism.” Can you imagine if Seattle required all black employees to undo their blackness? Doing it to white employees is perfectly acceptable. Even the FBI’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion is hosting weekly Intersectionality Workshops. “Virtually every significant corporation, academic institution, and public employer has these types of training,” says Peter Kirsanow of the US Commission on Civil Rights. “This is maybe the most pernicious ideology we’ve ever seen in the US.”

The hypocrisy of critical race theory is that it amounts to the number one expression of outright racism since Alabama Governor George Wallace blocked the path of black students trying to enter the University of Alabama. Only this time the racism is aimed at white people. In the Left’s perverted definition, “diversity” implies intolerance of Caucasians. Demonizing all whites as unrepentant racists is the Left’s way of making white people into a minority. For the Left, the whole purpose of diversity is division. For the rest of us, “It has not been our diversity,” said black economist Thomas Sowell, “but our ability to overcome the problems inherent in diversity, and to act together as Americans, that has been our strength.”

Biden has endorsed the racist 1619 Project, aimed at teaching school children that America was founded to enforce slavery and that its institutions continue to discriminate against black Americans. For all Biden’s talk about unity, his administration has bought into identity politics and racial division. Because of it, the country is approaching a state of chaos. Contributing to the reign of insanity is Biden’s order that men who identify as women must be allowed to compete in women’s athletic competitions. Transgender athletes have been competing and winning in women’s sports, to the chagrin of women athletes who can’t compete against biological men. With the stroke of a pen, said Ryan T. Anderson of the Heritage Foundation, Biden’s order “spells the end of girls’ and women’s sports as we know them.” Akin to this is Biden’s decision that men can use women’s bathrooms. Evidently the rights of women take second fiddle to the rights of a tiny minority.

Is there an end to government overreach into our private lives? The Democrats have unquestioning support from the media, Big Tech, Hollywood, and academia. Facebook, Twitter, and others in social media are in cahoots with the racial inquisition. Not since the McCarthy scare of the 1950s have we witnessed a situation where people can lose their ability to earn a living if they don’t espouse acceptable views. “The alliance of leftists and woke capitalists hopes to regulate the innermost thoughts of every American, from school age to retirement,” said Sen. Josh Hawley. “If you want to get a good job, stay at hotels and be served at restaurants, you will need to voice the right opinions. You will need to endorse the right ideas. You will need to conform.”
