Last year, a Philadelphia elementary school fifth-grade teacher reportedly indoctrinated her students with propaganda about radical black communist Angela Davis.

According to whistleblower documents shared with filmmaker, writer, and researcher Christopher Rufo of the Discovery Institute, the unnamed teacher at the William D. Kelley School “designed a social-studies curriculum” focused on celebrating Davis’s communist beliefs and radicalism.

“As part of the lesson, the teacher asked students to ‘describe Davis’ early life,’ reflect on her vision of social change, and ‘define communist’ — presumably in favorable terms,” Rufo reported Thursday on his eponymous website, ChristopherRufo.com.

The radical lesson plan eventually culminated in the reportedly 10- and 11-year-old students simulating a black power rally to “free Angela Davis” from prison.

“The students marched on the stage, holding signs that read ‘Black Power,’ ‘Jail Trump,’ ‘Free Angela,’ and ‘Black Power Matters.’ They chanted about Africa and ancestral power, then shouted ‘Free Angela! Free Angela!’ as they stood at the front of the stage,” according to Rufo.

Davis was briefly incarcerated in the 1970s while facing charges of aggravated kidnapping and first degree murder in the deaths of two judges who’d been murdered by a group of black extremists linked to her.

As recently as 2016, Davis proudly described herself as a lifelong communist: “I have always been a communist,” she said at the time, while speaking at California State University Los Angeles, as reported by the Young America’s Foundation.

This sort of radical curriculum has become a staple at the William D. Kelley School, even as its students’ academic performance has remained dreadfully poor, making it one of the worst schools in the state and country, according to Rufo.

“Even the school’s newest public artworks illustrate this politicization. Administrators recently commissioned a mural of Angela Davis and Huey P. Newton, who represent the Communist and Black Panther revolutionary movements of the 1960s; both figures stood trial for various crimes, including the murder of a police officer,” he reported.

This is all par for the course in Philadelphia, where the public school system has embraced so-called “antiracism,” the critical race theory-based ideology that promotes racial “equity,” racial hierarchies and racial resentment.

The exact same sort of racial resentment that, if left unchecked, could eventually turn America into an apartheid state where rights and privileges are doled out based on the color of one’s skin.

“Last summer, the superintendent released an Antiracism Declaration promising to ‘[dismantle] systems of racial inequity’ and circulated a memo recommending racially segregated training programs for white and black educators,” Rufo reported.

“The local teachers’ union produced a video denouncing the United States as a ‘settler colony built on white supremacy and capitalism,’ which has created a ‘system that lifts up white people over everyone else.’ The solution, according to the union, is to overthrow the ‘racist structure of capitalism,’ provide ‘reparations for Black and Indigenous people,’ and ‘uproot white supremacy and plant the seeds for a new world.'”

The solution is to basically replace America’s fair and equal system of law and governance with one that favors certain people over others. The line of thinking undergirding this ideology is the belief that, because whites once oppressed blacks, it’s blacks’ turn to oppress whites — and pretty much everybody else.

But instead of empowering minorities, this ideology is destroying them.

“The gap between rhetoric and reality at schools such as William Kelley is almost beyond comprehension: the vast majority of the ten- and eleven-year-olds marching for the utopia of ‘black communism’ can barely read and write,” according to Rufo.

“Rather than come to terms with the pedagogical failure of Philadelphia public schools, however, educators have shifted the blame to ‘systemic racism’ and promises of ‘revolution,'” he contended.

If only this was a rare example. Sadly, this sort of racial indoctrination has become widespread, with multiple schools throughout the nation being caught propagandizing their students with the same and/or similar rhetoric.

Worse, the Biden administration has endorsed this radicalism, or at least some of it, prompting Rufo to file a lawsuit against the administration announced late last month.

“Critical race theory is a grave threat to the American way of life. It divides Americans by race and traffics in the pernicious concepts of race essentialism, racial stereotyping, and race-based segregation—all under a false pursuit of ‘social justice,’” he wrote in a press release at the time.

“Critical race theory training programs have become commonplace in academia, government, and corporate life, where they have sought to advance the ideology through cult-like indoctrination, intimidation, and harassment.”
