A growing number of high-profile figures are calling for New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to be prosecuted and jailed over the arguably criminal manner in which he’s handled the coronavirus pandemic and allowed thousands of seniors to die.

The mounting anger against Cuomo stems from a bombshell report published by the New York Post this Thursday documenting how his administration had purposefully withheld the state’s real nursing-home death toll from the public.

The Post claimed to be in possession of an audio recording between the governor’s top aide, Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa, and state Democrat lawmakers, in which DeRosa had allegedly apologized for having lied to the public about the pandemic’s true death toll.

In the recording, she reportedly said that then-President Donald Trump’s tweets about Democrat governors killing nursing home patients made the administration fearful of a Department of Justice investigation, so they “froze” and subsequently lied. She then apologized for the deceit.

Few seem to care for the apology, in part because of another report published that same day — this one from the Associated Press — documenting how over 9,000 recovering coronavirus patients had been funneled into nursing homes last spring.

Couple these now-known facts with the state’s real nursing-home death toll — 13,000, minimum — and it becomes clear why high-profile figures such as Fox News’ meteorologist Janice Dean and New York Rep. Elise Stefanik are seeking Cuomo’s head.

In a lengthy statement published Thursday, Stefanik called for Cuomo to be prosecuted “immediately.”

Governor Cuomo, the Secretary to the Governor, and his senior team must be prosecuted immediately — both by the Attorney General of New York State and the U.S. Department of Justice,” she said.

She added that the evidence requires no less.

“This bombshell admission of a coverup and the remarks by the Secretary to the Governor indicating intent to obstruct any federal investigation is a stunning and criminal abuse of power,” she said.

“I have said from the beginning that this is more than a nursing home scandal, this is a massive corruption and coverup scandal at the highest level of New York State Government implicating the Governor, the Secretary to the Governor, the New York State Health Commissioner and the Governor’s staff,” Stefanik added.

She also implored President Joe Biden to prove that he’s not a partisan hack by, at the very least, calling for an investigation.

Dean, a fierce critic of Cuomo’s policies, in part because her own in-laws succumbed to them, took it a step further.

In a tweet posted Thursday afternoon, the Fox News meteorologist called for Cuomo and his entire staff to be jailed.

Last May she revealed to Fox News host Tucker Carlson that her in-laws had died while in New York nursing homes. She was confident then, and still is now, that their deaths were the result of Cuomo’s poor handling of the pandemic.

“Twenty percent of our lost loved ones are from nursing homes, and it’s because Gov. Cuomo and several other governors, by the way, in different states forced COVID-recovering patients into nursing homes,” she said.

Yet for months the mainstream press ignored the growing allegations against Cuomo, choosing instead to lavish him with unearned praise:

Only now, with over 10,000 nursing home patients already dead, are media organizations finally beginning to report the truth.

What’s unclear though is whether Biden has any interest in the truth.

According to reports, a bipartisan group of mayors and governors, including Cuomo, are scheduled to meet with the president Friday for a conference on the coronavirus.

It’s not known whether the president will bring up the bombshell evidence against the New York governor or choose to just ignore it in typical Democrat fashion.

Meanwhile, Cuomo’s administration is apparently trying to cover its tail.

In response to being exposed, Senior Advisor to the Governor Rich Azzopardi issued his own statement Thursday predictably screeching about former President Trump’s “politically motivated effort to blame democratic states for COVID deaths.”

In others words, #OrangeManBad.
