Tucker clears up 5 deaths at Capitol riots: ‘The story they told was a lie, from beginning to end’

For more than a month the nation has endured elected congressional Democrats sharing their highly emotional take on the deadly Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

As Fox News’ Tucker Carlson noted Wednesday, that day has been compared to the darkest days of U.S. history, such as the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, or the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

We’ve witnessed Democrats share mournful, tearful accounts of the fear that gripped them that day – even though some of them, such Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, were far from where the rioters crashed the Capitol, or like Rep. Rashida Tlaib, who weren’t even in Washington.

During his broadcast wednesday, Carlson saw something suspicious in the hyperbole of these Democrats and their effort to “remake America” in the wake of the riot.

“You may be surprised to learn how little we know even now,” Carlson said. “It’s remarkable how many of the basic questions remain unanswered more than a month after the fact.”

For example, he discussed the five people who died that day.

Carlson claimed that all five people who passed away were supporters of former President Donald Trump, including the Capitol Police officer who died, even though Democrats have repeatedly asserted the mob was coming for them. And the facts of their deaths have not been fully or widely shared, the Fox News host argued.

One woman may have been accidentally trampled by the mob in the stampede to the Capitol, Carlson said. Another man apparently had underlying health issues and suffered a heart attack during the excitement. A second man seemingly had a stroke and died, and there was no evidence he rioted or went inside the Capitol Building.

The fourth was Ashli Babbitt, an unarmed Air Force veteran who, Carlson noted, was shot to death by a police officer, but the government has not offered details of her death.

The fifth person was Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, who died at the scene.

Carlson noted how Democrats and the media have portrayed this as an “armed insurrection” instigated by Trump, even though they have produced no evidence of people firing weapons or threatening anyone with guns.

Carlson highlighted media reports that initially said Sicknick died after being beaten with a fire extinguisher. “Capitol Hill police officer beaten to death with a fire extinguisher by a white supremacists’ mob. … That account forms the basis of the myth the Democrats have constructed around Jan. 6,” Carlson noted. And Sicknick was hailed by the same Democrats who months earlier had complained that cops were racists and needed to be defunded.

“But, in fact, the story they told was a lie, from beginning to end,” Carlson said.

A new news report of Sickinck’s death, he added, notes that the officer told his brother hours after the rioters were dispersed that he had been pepper-sprayed but was otherwise fine. Within 24 hours he had died.

Carlson then pointed out the contradictions in accounts of how the riot started. Democrats, he said, want to argue Trump is to blame for the spontaneous eruption of violence, but media accounts also indicate it was planned in advance. “Both cannot be true,” Carlson said.

He added that the former head of the Capitol Police said there was no intelligence there would be trouble, but the media disputes that, which raises the question of why security that day was inadequate to handle the riot.

“We do know for certain that the known facts of what happened on Jan. 6 deviate in very important ways from the story they are now telling us,” Carlson argued. “And in many places the known facts bear no resemblance to the story they’re telling. They’re just flat-out lying.”

Carlson maintained that the Capitol riot tale serves the same purpose as the “sad death” of George Floyd, whose death was reportedly attributable to a fentanyl overdose rather than being murdered by cops.

“Democratic partisans used a carefully concocted myth, a lie, to bum-rush America into overturning the old order and handing them more power. It worked flawlessly. So why wouldn’t they do it again?” Carlson concluded.
