‘That’s it!’: Nancy Pelosi abruptly ends weekly press conference after snapping at reporters

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi failed to hide her rising irritation as she abruptly ended her weekly press conference after snapping at reporters.

The California Democrat testily called one reporter’s question simply a “waste of time” after being asked about former President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial and then angrily responded to another query about stripping Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from her House committees.

Pelosi may have been wearing a mask as she held her weekly briefing, but her ebbing patience was on clear display as she appeared to be done with the questions towards the end of the meeting. The Democrat leader did not even bother to answer one reporter’s question about Sen. Lindsey Graham’s threat over the impeachment.

“Senator Graham said that if the Democrats call any witness, that Republicans will be prepared to call in the FBI and quote ‘Tell us about people who planned this attack and what happened with the security footprint at the Capitol.’ What’s your response to that?” one reporter asked in Thursday’s press conference.

“Your question is a waste of time,” Pelosi shot back icily, immediately calling on someone else for another question.

“Are you worried at all about the precedent it would set in removing-” CNN’s Manu Raju reportedly tried to ask the speaker.

“No, not at all, not at all,” Pelosi replied, cutting him off. “If any of our members threatened the safety of other members, we’d be the first ones to take them off of the committee.”

“That’s it,” she added, abruptly turning from the podium and exiting the room.

Earlier this week, Graham had warned on Fox News that a move by Democrats to call on trial witnesses against Trump would “open Pandora’s box,” and slammed the unconstitutional effort to remove a former president from a seat he no longer occupies.

“If the House managers want to use this as a political commercial against Donald Trump and Republicans, and they want to call witnesses now… this thing could go for weeks or months and that would be bad for the country,” the South Carolina Republican told former Congressman Trey Gowdy, who was guest-hosting “Fox News Primetime.”

“To my Democratic colleagues, if you vote to call one witness, none were called in the House, get ready for a long trial,” Graham added. “If you open up that can of worms, we’ll want the FBI to come in and tell us about how people actually pre-planned these attacks and what happened with the security footprint at the Capitol. You open up Pandora’s box if you call one witness, I hope we don’t call any.”

Pelosi came under fire last week after she referred to Republican lawmakers as the “enemy within,” criticizing  those “who want to bring guns onto the floor and that threatened violence on other members of Congress.”

Earlier in her press conference, Pelosi had slammed Republicans for not disciplining Greene, the freshman GOP congresswoman from Georgia who was removed from the Education and Labor Committee and the Budget Committee after Democrats – and 11 of her GOP colleagues – voted to strip her of her assignments.

“I remain profoundly concerned about House Republican leaders’ acceptance of extreme conspiracy theorists,” Pelosi said.

“Particularly concerning is their eagerness to reward a QAnon adherent, a 9/11 truther, a harasser of child survivors of school shootings, and to give them valued committee positions. Who could imagine they would put such a person on the Education Committee?” she added.

Republicans refused to punish Greene with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy saying he had expressed the party’s concerns over her past comments with her but no disciplinary action would be taken. Greene reportedly offered her Republican colleagues a formal apology in a closed-door meeting on Wednesday.
