Despite being accused once again of being a shameless liar, far-left New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez continues to claim she’s telling the truth.
It’s now believed by some that AOC lied by claiming she’d been in the thick of the riots that overtook the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6th. It is now being claimed that she’d instead been in a side building that the rioters never penetrated.
This isn’t to say that AOC wasn’t affected by the riot. But it does dispute her hyperbolic shrieks about how she was hunted to be murdered — and about how she feared that the Capitol Police officer who’d come to help her was one of the rioters.
Now, while the evidence disproving AOC’s claim appears to be legion, one recent piece of evidence is the testimony of South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace.
Mace has said that she knows that the New York congresswoman exaggerated because she’d been situated only feet away from her during the riot.
Look:
I’m two doors down from @aoc and no insurrectionists stormed our hallway… https://t.co/pAuLh4Vvam pic.twitter.com/xRV4qqY7Qs
— Nancy Mace (@NancyMace) February 4, 2021
Responding to this tweet, AOC doubled down.
“This is a deeply cynical & disgusting attack. As the Capitol complex was stormed & people were being killed, none of us knew in the moment what areas were compromised. You previously told reporters yourself that you barricaded in your office, afraid you’d be hurt,” she responded.

This is a deeply cynical & disgusting attack, @NancyMace.

But none of what Mace previously said negates the argument that AOC is being dishonest. Plus, it’s not as if Mace has ever once changed her story. It’s seemingly remained consistent throughout.
Or has it? The New York congresswoman tried to claim it hasn’t. She tried to do this by retweeting the tweet Mace had posted during the riot.
Look:
This was what you were saying just a few weeks ago.
Now you’re contradicting your own account to attack me for Fox News clicks.
It’s honestly pretty sad to see you turn around like this and throw other people under the bus.
Thought you’d be better.https://t.co/1WPlwUWlar

“Just evacuated my office in Cannon due to a nearby threat. Now we’re seeing protesters assaulting Capitol Police. This is wrong. This is not who we are. I’m heartbroken for our nation today,” Mace’s Jan. 6th tweet reads.
As noted by the thousands of critics who’ve been ratioing AOC’s tweets nonstop for the past 24 or so hours, the keywords there are “NEARBY THREAT,” as in not an imminent threat.
Look:
how is she contradicting? she said the threat was “nearby.” you said they busted down your door. @RepNancyMace was and is correct, and you are a nasty little liar.
— Just Becky. That’s it. (@ltsOnlyBecky) February 4, 2021
Rep Nancy Mace’s description of being evacuated due to “A Nearby Threat” is not even close to the same as “Insurrectionists were breaking into our offices and I feared for my life”
Nice try though.
— Kristi L. Talmadge (I-CT) (@KristiTalmadge) February 4, 2021
“Nearby threat.” This, in fact, seems to confirm Mace’s story that the threat was not in the Cannon Building.
— Bobjack78 (@Bobjack781) February 4, 2021
This doesn’t say the exact opposite of what Mace just said. “My office was evacuated because of a nearby threat” and “there were never protesters in the hallway where my and AOC’s offices are located” are not in fact opposite statements.
— kwanakku (@kwanakku) February 4, 2021
No she isn’t. She said ‘nearby threat’ not right outside her door. She also didn’t say she was nearly ‘murdered’ or that she didn’t know if the police officer was there to ‘hurt’ or help. AOC is a manipulative, liar.

Was this your “gotcha” moment lol
Nearby threat and people banging on my door trying to kill me are not the same pic.twitter.com/kCx6dFeh3x— Johnny (@Johnny45333155) February 4, 2021
If anything, it seems AOC just proved Mace’s point to a T.
Now look at how Mace herself responded to AOC’s failed attempt to dunk on her:
*FACT CHECK*
I have not once discounted your fear. We were ALL terrified that day.
I’m stating the fact that insurrectionists were never in our hallway… because they weren’t. I deal in facts. Unlike you, apparently. https://t.co/S6CWasKNpY
— Nancy Mace (@NancyMace) February 4, 2021
Yet AOC chose to triple down.
Look:
Wild that @NancyMace is discrediting herself less than 1 mo in office w/ such dishonest attacks. She *went on record* saying she barricaded in fear.@NancyMace who else’s experiences will you minimize?Capitol Police in Longworth? Custodial workers who cleaned up shards of glass? https://t.co/l1CT0jIXJF
— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) February 4, 2021
All I can think of w/ folks like her dishonestly claiming that survivors are exaggerating are the stories of veterans and survivors in my community who deny themselves care they need & deserve bc they internalize voices like hers saying what they went through “wasn’t bad enough”
— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) February 4, 2021
This “deeply cynical & disgusting attack” provoked another reality-check from Mace.
Hold up ✋
You seem to be triggered by facts so let me be clear:
I have not ONCE discounted your experience. It was harrowing for all of us.
FACT: Insurrectionists weren’t in our hallways. It’s your eagerness to politicize absolutely ANYTHING that deserves condemnation. https://t.co/9wXruBQfi0
— Nancy Mace (@NancyMace) February 4, 2021
As of 1:45 pm Thursday afternoon, AOC had not yet responded.
