Ric Grenell: Watch out for ‘Shadow President’ in Biden admin and it’s not Kamala

Former acting-Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell had a telling prediction about who will be the shadow president in the incoming Biden administration.

Speaking with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo about who could be Biden’s puppet master as he steps in as the nation’s 46th president. With many already speculating that Kamala Harris, as incoming vice president, may wield more power, Grenell offered up another woman tapped for the Democratic administration.

Grenell’s prediction came after Bartiromo set up a question on “Sunday Morning Futures” about how influential other players will be in Biden’s administration noting, in particular, that former Obama national security adviser Susan Rice has been tapped by Biden to lead the White House Domestic Policy Council.

“So Susan Rice has been tapped to do domestic policy, and what is really interesting about that is she’s got no experience in domestic policy,” Grenell noted.

“She is going to be somebody who is incredibly influential. Remember that she was National Security advisor so she knows that entire apparatus,” the former U.S. Ambassador to Germany added.

“We were told that she wanted to be secretary of state in the Obama Administration. They were making moves towards that but she didn’t have the votes so they backed off on that,” he added.

“So I think the reality is she’s going to be running foreign policy, domestic policy. She’s probably extremely happy that Kamala Harris is going to be preoccupied with the Senate, trying to manage 50-50, being the 101st senator, there, and won’t have a lot of time to get into policy issues,” Grenell said.

“So I think you need to watch Susan Rice very closely. She will be the shadow president,” he told Bartiromo.

Rice, who served as United States ambassador to the United Nations before her stint as former President Obama’s national security advisor, came under fire last year for being one of several Obama-era officials who had sought to unmask then-incoming National Security Adviser Michael Flynn back in 2016.

Documents declassified by Grenell at the time, as Rice’s name was being floated for Biden’s possible vice president picks, sparked scrutiny over her role. Rice has repeatedly been criticized for her media tour blaming a video for the 2012 attacks in Libya on U.S. government facilities in Benghazi that left four Americans dead.

Rice, who will influence Biden’s approach to immigration, health care and other domestic issues in her new role, left her position on the Netflix board of directors to take on the new job.

Grenell warned of the influence she could have on the Biden administration and pointed to the incoming president’s shift in policy stances as notable.

“We have a president-elect in Joe Biden who clearly is not the Joe Biden of ten years ago. He’s not even the Joe Biden of 5 years ago when it comes to policy issues,” he told Bartiromo on Sunday, noting how and why Biden got elected.

“We saw him raise his hand during the Democratic primary for some really radical ideas. The progressives have clearly taken over him and I think that that’s why he won,” Grenell said.

“They wanted someone who had a name that they could control,” he concluded, “and Susan Rice being right there at the White House to be the shadow president is probably exactly where she wants to be, behind the scenes. And unchecked.”
