Nikki Haley appears to jockey for potential 2024 run, delivers Trump a harsh but carefully crafted rebuke

In what’s certain to be seen as early jockeying for a potential 2024 presidential run, former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley drew a clear line of separation with President Trump while taking care not to draw Trump’s ire or offend his millions of supporters.

In a speech to the Republican National Committee on Thursday, Haley said Trump’s words and actions since the election “will be judged harshly by history,” according to The Washington Free Beacon.

The former Republican governor of South Carolina served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations from 2017 to 2018 in the Trump administration and didn’t hold back in commenting on what has transpired since the election — Haley also went back to the early days of Trump’s term.

“President Trump has not always chosen the right words,” Haley said. “He was wrong with his words in Charlottesville, and I told him so at the time. He was badly wrong with his words yesterday. And it wasn’t just his words. His actions since Election Day will be judged harshly by history.”

“It’s deeply disappointing. And it’s a real shame because I am one who believes our country made some truly extraordinary gains in the last four years. President Trump and Republicans deserve great credit for that,” she added. “We should not shy away from our accomplishments.”

(While the corrupt media establishment made it a point to ignore any achievements Trump pulled off in their four-year vendetta against this president, there are many.)

Taking to Twitter prior to her speech, Haley promised there’d be “some hard truths,” as she pushed to the fore in navigating the post-Trump presidency era.

Like a parade of GOP officials, Haley called Wednesday’s protest in Washington that got out of hand “un-American,” but she was careful to strike a balance in repudiating the president.

Haley praised Trump for his hardline stance against Communist China while giving the administration props for its approach to foreign policy.

“President Trump was our first commander in chief to see China for what it really is—the greatest global threat facing America. He held China accountable for its unfair trade, its theft of our secrets, and its egregious human rights record,” she said. “The United States now sees China with open eyes, and we have Donald Trump to thank for that.”

In what may be an early glimpse into what a Haley presidential run may look like, the article said her speech focused on three non-Trump issues: out-of-control government spending; socialism, which Haley argued has gone “mainstream in America”, and the rise of a so-called woke mob that threatens some of the country’s fundamental liberties.

“They’ve demonstrated that they’ll ‘cancel’ anyone who gets in their way,” Haley said. “They want to shout down and shut up anyone who disagrees with them. They want to take control of the classroom, the boardroom, the media green room, and even the dining room table.”

They also want to cancel anyone who has ever had any association with Trump.

Another priority for a Republican president will likely be Big Tech, where censorship has become the norm. With the president having exhausted his options to challenge a suspect 2020 election there is no fear of reprisals. Twitter locked his account for 12 hours this week and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg shut down Trump there and on Instagram for at least until the inauguration of Joe Biden.

As for government spending, Haley commented on the recently-passed massive 2.4 trillion dollar spending bill.

“It’s insulting. America’s national debt is $28 trillion and counting,” she explained. “Congress needs to remember whose money they’re spending. It’s not their money. It’s the American people’s money.”
