News mogul Matt Drudge broke his social media silence to take a disparaging shot at Sen. Kelly Loeffler while congratulating her opponent.

The Drudge Report founder tweeted his congratulations to Democrat Raphael Warnock in the Senate runoff race in Georgia on Tuesday, prematurely sharing his take on the “historic” win before the votes were even done being tallied.

Drudge offered a rare tweet celebrating a yet-to-be declared Democratic victory in the tight race that will determine who is in control of the U.S. Senate. He also swiped at Loeffler, suggesting Republicans should have run conservative author and commentator Ann Coulter as the actual candidate rather than the incumbent senator.

“Congratulations #Warnock on the historic win! GOP should have run the real @AnnCoulter not someone who was trying to ridiculously look and sound like her,” Drudge tweeted Tuesday, before Warnock was projected the winner of the race.

His tweet included side-by-side images of Coulter and Loeffler and Twitter flagged his post with a label reading,  “Multiple sources may not have called the race when this was Tweeted.”

Though considered a major part of the online conservative media presence, Drudge turned on President Trump after supporting him in the 2016 presidential election.  In recent months, the conservative news site has seen more critical coverage of the president. After the November 2020 election as Democrat Joe Biden was projected the winner, Drudge put out the mocking headline, “You’re Fired.”

“I gave up on Drudge (a really nice guy) long ago, as have many others,” Trump tweeted earlier this year. “People are dropping off like flies!”

Meanwhile, Coulter – once a vehement and vocal Trump supporter – was apparently a friend of Drudge as they were seen together at a Miami Heat basketball game back in 2014.

She gave her own “I told you so” message in a tweet on Tuesday.

The rare Drudge tweet on Tuesday sparked a wave of reactions on Twitter:
