Kayleigh McEnany drops the hammer on ‘lazy’ Tapper after his attack: ‘Jake’s real problem…’

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany torched CNN’s Jake Tapper for characterizing her as a liar during an on-air segment.

McEnany slammed the CNN host as “lazy” and accused him of attacking her with “zero” evidence after Tapper claimed she lies “the way that most people breathe.” The former Republican National Committee spokesperson, who was also once a CNN commentator, did not let Tapper’s insult go by without taking him down in a tweet on Sunday.

Her rebuttal came after Tapper’s on-air discussion with CNN colleague Brian Stelter on “Reliable Sources” as they spoke about the last four years of covering the Trump administration. Tapper smugly declared, without providing a single example to back his claims, that he wouldn’t invite McEnany and other administration officials on his show because they were just “people who tell lies.”

“Well, there are some people that are so mendacious, I just wouldn’t put them on air,” Tapper said. “Kayleigh McEnany, I never booked her…These are just people who tell lies the way that most people breathe. There was no value in that.”

Lacking any sense of self-awareness, Tapper apparently forgot the last four years of peddling lies about President Trump, Russian collusion and any manner of baseless attacks on the administration while allowing countless talking heads to deliver conspiracy theories ad nauseum.

He also compared McEnany to former White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, saying “there’s a risk in lumping everybody together” when choosing to level his accusations.

“There’s a big difference between someone like Kayleigh McEnany, who like, this is just what she does, she tells lies all the time. She can’t acknowledge reality,” he said. “So I’m just not going to put somebody like that on air.”

The White House press secretary quickly fired back at Tapper’s personal smear, calling him out for “lobbying baseless personal attacks” and providing nothing to back up his accusations.

“This is a therapy session for a broken network, and @jaketapper is lazy enough to participate by lobbing baseless personal attacks, with ZERO evidence,” McEnany tweeted, going on to slam the media, and CNN in particular.

“Jake’s real problem: I do not leak. I do not lie,” she wrote. “But I DO call out the lies of the media (i.e. CNN Russia collusion hoax!)

Trump campaign attorney Jenna Ellis backed McEnany on Twitter, slamming Tapper and Stelter as “two pathetic figures trying to convince themselves they’re relevant.”

Twitter users slammed Tapper, who claims to be a fair and balanced news anchor while spewing his own personal attacks on anyone connected to President Trump. On CNN, apparently, commentary from administration officials had to pass a veracity test before making it on the air.
