Dan Bongino returns to Fox to update fans on his cancer: ‘I give chemo zero stars’

Former Secret Service agent and top podcaster Dan Bongino appeared on “Fox & Friends” Christmas morning to give an update on his treatment and prognosis for Hodgkin’s lymphoma, telling viewers he’s “A-OK.”

Bongino, who is also a Fox News contributor, announced during his popular podcast in late September that was having a growth on his neck examined after being advised to do so by a friend who is a head and neck surgeon.

A few weeks later, Bongino announced he had been diagnosed with a form of cancer that involves white blood cells and, over time, limits a person’s ability to fight infection.

During his Friday appearance on Fox & Friends, the former NYPD officer said that he was nearing the end of his initial chemotherapy regime and was feeling good overall.

“I’ve been working out, sticking to my routine,” Bongino began, adding that the treatments have nevertheless left him fatigued.

“The chemo’s rough,” he continued, noting that “you gotta get through it with a bit of a sense of humor.

“I tell people I give chemo zero stars on Amazon, I don’t recommend it, two thumbs down on Yelp,” Bongino quipped. “But it definitely works. I’ve got my last treatment” next week, he continued, added that he’ll then be “back at full force” and set to guest-host for network star Sean Hannity.

“But thank you…specifically to all the viewers out there on Fox. I get your emails, I read all your social media posts…really, it’s been heartwarming,” he added. “Really, I will be A-OK though. I promise you, my prognosis is really good.”

Bongino went on to mention top conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, whom he said was “really having a rough time right now” battling lung cancer.

Co-host Nicole Saphier praised Bongino’s efforts to be open and transparent with his fans, to which he responded with praise of his own for cancer treatment centers MD Anderson and Memorial Sloan Kettering, where “brilliant people” have been taking care of him.

“We have the best medical system in the world, really, all the doctors out there caring for people during this season, thank you, and thanks to everyone who’s been caring for me too,” Bongino added.

The conservative podcaster again noted that his final chemotherapy treatment for the current regime is pending.

“I had what I call the ‘chemo smirk’ on because you know it’s coming,” he said. “The first few days after chemo are generally rough, but the second week, this week, I’m A-OK, I feel great.

“So, everyone in the audience, don’t waste a minute worrying about me, I’m A-OK,” he added.

In September when he was explaining to his podcast audience the strange lump in his neck, Bongino said it was beginning to impinge on his vocal cords and one of his carotid arteries.

“I have a growth on my neck, it’s on my left side, it’s been there for a little bit of time now,” Bongino began, adding that he initially thought it was caused by a ‘choke-out’ incident he experienced during Ju-Jitsu training earlier in the month.

He also said he initially ignored it because he thought it was another if the non-cancerous “fatty tumors” that he has developed in the past and that have to be surgically removed.

“It’s scary,” Bongino continued before adding that he “debated” telling his listeners.

“You know, I’m only 45, I’ve got young kids, and a dog…a great dog,” he continued. “This was not the news I needed.”
