President Donald Trump is justifiably calling out the New York Times after the far-left news organization to acknowledged that a podcast contained bogus information.
“Oh, they do this to me every day. When will they apologize?” the president tweeted with feelings of vindication upon the disclosure that the Times had to retract a key premise of its 2018 “Caliphate” podcast.
Shehroze Chaudhry, the purported central figure of the 12-part Times podcast, who allegedly claimed to be a terrorist executioner, apparently made it up, and the news outlet fell for it.
After a four-year investigation, Canadian authorities have charged him with carrying out an alleged terrorist hoax, which could land him in prison for up to five years should he be convicted in a court of law.
Prompted to review the situation by the action of authorities in Canada, the Times now admits that it “found no corroboration of his claim to have committed atrocities.”
“This new examination found a history of misrepresentations by Mr. Chaudhry and no corroboration that he committed the atrocities he described in the ‘Caliphate’ podcast. As a result, The Times has concluded that the episodes of ‘Caliphate’ that presented Mr. Chaudhry’s claims did not meet our standards for accuracy,” the so-called newspaper of record explained.
“It is also clear that elements of the original fact-checking process were not sufficiently rigorous: Times journalists were too credulous about the verification steps that were undertaken and dismissive of the lack of corroboration of essential aspects of Mr. Chaudhry’s account.”
The organization added that the what happened is an example of “institutional failure,” which appears to be a chronic problem at the relentlessly anti-Trump outlet.
The president has regularly described the newspaper as “the failing New York Times” because of its “institutional” bias.

The Times separately revealed that according to U.S. and Canada intelligence and law enforcement sources, “Mr. Chaudhry…was not a terrorist, almost certainly never went to Syria, and concocted gruesome stories about being an Islamic State executioner as part of a Walter Mitty-like escape from his more mundane life in a Toronto suburb and in Lahore, Pakistan, where he spent years living with his grandparents.”
During the entirety of the Trump administration, savvy news consumers — regardless of where they find themselves on the ideological spectrum — likely would contend that the New York Times has also been insufficiently rigorous in its reporting on the incumbent POTUS.
Carrying water for the Democrats plus putting forth liberal click bait, the Times, which even managed to win a Pulitzer Prize for reporting on discredited allegations of Trump-Russia collusion, has a track record — like most of the corporate media — of running with uncorroborated, anonymous-sourced, anti-Trump content that often turned out to be inaccurate, distorted, exaggerated, or lacking in context.

20 years ago, I trusted what I read in the Times. Because of this episode and many others like it, I can no longer say that. Those who follow the Times closely notice an immense institutional arrogance and elitism. I don’t think Times people understand how far they’ve fallen.

It just further shows the decay of real journalism. “Journalists” rush to get stories out that push narratives or agendas, without real investigation, take things out of context & build a story around it & politicize “facts”. There is justification for calling it “fake news”.
