U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw raked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi over the coals in a scathing rebuke from the House floor.
The Texas Republican spent nearly five minutes addressing his colleagues on Wednesday in a blistering takedown of the Democrat leader and others as he “unequivocally condemned” her actions which stalled bipartisan legislation that would have provided some relief to pandemic-weary Americans.
Pelosi came under fire last week after she indicated that Democrats could be willing to agree to a smaller COVID-19 relief bill event though they refused to even negotiate with Republicans ahead of the November election. critics accused the House speaker of playing politics with people’s lives by stalling until it appeared Democrat Joe Biden scored an election victory.
“It’s what we had on our bills. It’s for a shorter period of time but that’s OK now because we have a new president. A president that recognizes that we need to depend on science to stop the virus,” she told reporters who asked why a deal could not be struck sooner.
It’s hard to imagine a more awful, heartless strategy by Speaker Pelosi. We’ve been telling the American people this for months. Now she is actually admitting it. It is unbelievable. https://t.co/0rgzjfTnQu

Crenshaw leveled Pelosi for leveraging the pandemic crisis to hurt President Trump in the election and went further in his floor speech as he slammed Democrat leaders for their hypocrisy in imposing strict lockdown orders which they themselves ignored.
“We’ve known for months that Speaker Pelosi was holding the American people hostage for political gain,” Crenshaw said.
“While Americans suffered under unscientific, foolish lockdowns, Pelosi withheld relief for political purposes – not policy purposes, but political purposes,” the former United States Navy SEAL officer added. “But we now have a full admission. She said the quiet part out loud.”

“This was never about what was best for the American people, never about honest policy disagreement. It was about preventing President Trump from getting any credit. It was about politics,” he continued.
“Speaker Pelosi made a simple calculation: She bet that if she could keep Congress from reaching a deal on COVID relief, that it would hurt Trump and Republicans, and give her more power. Even when members of her own party asked her to bring common sense stand-alone bipartisan relief measures to the House floor that would easily become law, she refused,” he recounted.

“She believed that nothing was better than something for her and her party. It’s hard to imagine a more awful and heartless strategy,” Crenshaw declared, calling out the California Democrat for hurting her own constituents.
“What’s worse, Speaker Pelosi does all of this while people in her home state suffer from unscientific, unconstitutional lockdowns that Democrat leaders in California are forcing upon their citizens. These lockdowns are not based in science, they never have been,” he contended.
Pelosi is lying.
She has absolutely zero credibility after callously admitting she was holding COVID relief hostage as a political strategy. We all knew it. Then she actually said it.
Now she’s shamelessly gaslighting. https://t.co/77Mo2CSl3H

“Study after study shows that they yield little if any benefits, but they impose extreme costs on the small businesses suffering under them,” the Texas lawmaker said, slamming the double standards of Democrats ordering the restrictions in the name of science.
“You know what else? Democrat leaders making these executive orders – they know this, too, because they’re violating their own guidelines. The Speaker of the House couldn’t even let a pesky little lockdown get in the way of a haircut appointment. Even though those same lockdowns destroy the lives of her constituents,” Crenshaw noted.
He argued that small businesses are “shamed into submission” with unfair lockdown orders and “told wrongly that they are the ones who must sacrifice to slow the spread” of the virus.
“This is unscientific nonsense! We all know it,” he added, arguing that small business owners are “in the crosshairs of cowardly politicians across the country.”
“This madness has to stop! This arbitrary application of executive orders is deeply, deeply unconstitutional,” he concluded, adding that it is “time to stand up against the hypocrisy of these so-called leaders.”
Crenshaw’s fiery takedown received a virtual standing ovation on Twitter.
Thanks for taking a stand @DanCrenshawTX! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
