The Trump campaign’s challenge of the outcome of the 2020 election took an odd turn Sunday night when it was announced that former federal prosecutor Sidney Powell was not a member of President Trump’s legal team.
But there may be more to the story that centers around fundraising, as Powell vows to stay the course — with a little flare, employing the hashtag #KrakenOnSteroids.“
Trump campaign senior legal adviser Jenna Ellis posted a statement on Twitter on behalf of the president’s legal team.
“Sidney Powell is practicing law on her own. She is not a member of the Trump Legal Team. She is also not a lawyer for the President in his personal capacity,” the release said.

Powell, who has claimed skewed algorithms allowed electronic voting machines to switch millions of ballots from President Trump to Democratic nominee Joe Biden, appeared at a press conference last week with the Trump legal team.
Trump included her name in a tweet posted Nov. 14th as part of “a truly great team.”
CBS this Morning producer Kristin Brown tweeted a statement from Powell Sunday evening saying she “understands” Sunday’s statement and will continue to represent those who have had their votes “stolen by massive fraud through Dominion and Smartmatic.”
“The chips will fall where they may, and we will defend the foundations of this great Republic. #KrakenOnSteroids,” she added.

Former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who is represented by Powell, said in a tweet late Sunday that she was suspended from Twitter for 12 hours, adding that she understands the statement released by the president’s legal team and “agrees with it.”
He also said Powell was “staying the course” to prove election fraud.
Ellis responded to that tweet to include a statement she said Powell gave to the Wall Street Journal that was similar to what CBS reported.
“I agree with the statement today. I will represent /#WeThePeople and seek the Truth. I intend to expose all the fraud and let the chips fall where they may. We will not allow the foundations of this great Republic to be destroyed by abject fraud.” https://t.co/ZjAZ8OcreH

Flynn’s son, Mike Flynn Jr, insisted on Parler that Trump hasn’t “dropped” Powell, noting that Ellis helped share her statement and suggested the motivation behind the move may be related to funding.
“Cannot confirm yet but I’m confident this has to do w money coming in for legal defense fund sppt,” he wrote. “@sidneypowell has her own separate entity 4 legal donations that isn’t in conjunction w the Trump legal team.”
“Frees SP 2 do her own thing…which will STILL b biblical,” Flynn Jr. added, before saying give the story “the 24 hour rule.”
Trump campaign attorney L. Lin Wood tweeted that he and Powell were “more alike than we are different” and that “all interests are aligned.”
“We are fighting different legal battles for the same clients – We The People,” Wood added. “The People voted overwhelmingly to re-elect [President Trump]. All interests are aligned.”
