There are few places outside the media establishment where Barack Obama was revered as much as he was on late-night TV, where liberal hosts thrilled over the ratings boost, fawned over the former president like school girls.
With Obama plugging his latest book, the first of a two-volume autobiography, little has changed as seen Thursday night when he appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
There was no crying from host Jimmy Kimmel, who did his best to help Obama sell a few books, by featuring a live book reading from the Democratic politician.
But the headline of the night was when Obama appeared to mock his successor by suggesting that the Navy SEALS be sent in to remove President Trump from office, which appears at about the 11 minute mark of the video below.
Much like the media did throughout Obama’s two terms, Kimmel set him up for the score, asking Obama if there were places someone could hide in the White House.
“Like if, say, they were going to be removed, are there little cubby holes or anything we should know about?” he asked.
“Well, I think we can always send the Navy Seals in there to dig them out,” the former president replied, hitting the softball serve out of the park.
The huge gummy smile being proof positive that Obama knew precisely what he was saying.
The irony of Obama not being in such a hurry to send Navy SEALS in to get terrorist Osama bin Laden stands out here — not only did he cancel three times, his then-Vice President Joe Biden weighed in against the raid altogether.
Much like the spectacle of a former president who oversaw the manipulation of the U.S. intelligence apparatus to spy on a presidential candidate from the opposite party, surveillance that continued after the election, when FBI Director James Comey tried to set up President-elect Trump at the infamous Jan. 6, 2017 meeting, is appearing on live television to take shots at the same target having gotten away scot-free.
The same corrupt media establishment that carried now 78-year-old Biden across the finish line and rushed to call the race for a candidate who did little campaigning, now ridicules Trump for not conceding as he pursues legal options in the face of an election marred by allegations of voter fraud.
As for the live reading, Obama surprised Joyce Taylor, a fan from Temple Hills, Md.
“Being the president takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice,” Obama began. “But one of the most rewarding parts of the job was traveling these parts of the United States and meeting the great people that make up this country.”
“From farmers in Iowa to auto workers in Detroit, to retired auditors from Temple Hills, Md.,” he added.
Interestingly, Obama made no reference of meeting those he accused of being bitter and clinging to their “guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment.”
