With little more than a month to go in 2020, many Americans are only too happy to see the year pass.

While there are still pending legal challenges from President Trump’s campaign, a year that went south early on when the Chinese plague came calling seemed to reach its low point when a complicit media rushed to call the 2020 election in favor of their guy, Joe Biden — who may or may not be in the early stages of senility.

But then, the iconic 2020 Rockefeller Center Christmas tree made its grand debut in midtown Manhattan and we learned that the year’s disappointments were not done, with the Rockefeller Center doing its part to set us up for the fall.

In a tweet capturing a majestic tree, the caption stated: “Say hello to the 2020 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree! Hailing from Oneonta, NY, this Norway Spruce will arrive at Rockefeller Center this Saturday, November 14 to kick off the holiday season.⁣”

A video was also shared showing the beautiful tree being harvested and loaded up for the trip to New York City.

Even wrapped up, the tree still looked magnificent.

But when it got to midtown Manhattan and was unfurled… well, it appeared as if it had contracted COVID-19 along the say.

…not that the Rockefeller Center was deterred!

Sensitive to the criticism, the center would later respond to suggest the two day drive may have had some effect on the tree’s appearance, adding that lights will make all the difference in the world.

“Wow, you all must look great right after a two-day drive, huh? Just wait until I get my lights on! See you on December 2! 😉,” a tweet declared.

As for the criticism, former New York police commissioner Bernard Kerik won the internet with his assessment, which dinged Comrade Mayor Bill de Blasio.

“What is this, a joke? This is the Rockefeller Christmas tree for 2020,” Kerik tweeted. “It depicts @NYCMayor‘s city as it stands today: broken, empty, drained of its life, by failed leadership and incompetence.”

Here’s a sampling of some of the other responses from Twitter:
