Former federal prosecutor Sidney Powell claimed on Sunday the CIA may have used Dominion Voting Systems to help sway foreign elections while she called on the agency’s director, Gina Haspel, to be fired.
In an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo, Powell — who is a member of President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign legal team — said officials have obtained evidence from whistleblowers and other sources that “substantial sums of money” have been paid to “family members of state officials” who purchased the voting systems software.
In addition to “kickbacks” and remuneration for family members, officials in states that bought the systems also were provided what she called “election insurance,” suggesting that by using the software they were guaranteed a victory, Powell asserted.
“It’s really an insidious, corrupt system and I can’t tell you how livid I am with our government for not paying attention to complaints even brought by Democrats” about the systems, Powell said, going on to name Rep. Caroline Maloney of New York, as well as Sens. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota.
Powell said those lawmakers and others wrote letters to various government entities that included “expert reports and some documentation of how corrupt this software is.”
“And nobody in our government has paid any attention to it,” she continued, “which makes me wonder how much the CIA has used it for its own benefit in different places, and why Gina Haspel is still there in the CIA is beyond my comprehension. She should be fired immediately.”
Powell then went on to clarify that she did not mean to imply that “hundreds of millions” of dollars in kickbacks have gone to the families of state political figures, but did say that the evidence shows its “more than one” dollar that has been allegedly paid out.
Bartiromo then pressed Powell over why she believes the CIA has a role in Dominion’s software.
“The CIA and the FBI and other government organizations have received multiple reports of wrongdoing and failures and vulnerabilities in this company’s product,” Powell said, claiming that the company’s “own manual” explains why “an honest person” wouldn’t use the software.
She went on to say that other electronic voting machine firms that use the same software have seen similar problems with alleged voting improprieties.
“But the people who bought the Dominion system, for sure, knew exactly what they were getting,” Powell claimed. “It should never have been installed anywhere, and we are going to show the public exactly how rotten the entire state is.”
Bartiromo said she has spoken to a whistleblower IT expert who told her that the Dominion software contained suspicious “patches” and other features that led him to believe it was not secure.
Powell explained that voting machines running the software can be accessed — compromised — via thumb drives or over the Internet from foreign countries such as Venezuela and Germany.
“They can remote access anything, they can watch votes in real-time, they can shift votes in real-time,” she said, noting that Trump’s legal team has even “identified the exact algorithm” used to allegedly alter votes.
She further alleges that the software enables vote fixers to do any number of things to change the outcome.
“They can have the machines not read the signature, they can have the machines not read the down-ballot, they can make the machines read and catalog only the Biden votes,” Powell said, adding that the campaign believes it has evidence showing hundreds of thousands of votes being uploaded multiple times to systems in more than one state.
Powell said the campaign also has a “sworn statement” from a witness attesting to her claims and as such will be able to prove them in court.
