Fox News contributor and conservative pundit Tammy Bruce leveled CNN’s Christiane Amanpour for becoming the latest left-wing journalist to compare President Donald Trump and his administration to Adolph Hitler and his murderous Nazi regime.
In an interview Friday with network host Sean Hannity, Bruce strongly reacted to a clip of Amanpour’s Thursday evening broadcast in which she referenced “Kristallnacht,” a 1938 event in which German Nazis attacked Jews and Jewish businesses over the course of two days.
“This week, 82 years ago, Kristallnacht happened,” Amanpour said. ”It was the Nazis’ warning shot across the bow of our human civilization that led to genocide against a whole identity. And, in that tower of burning books, it led to an attack on fact, knowledge, history and truth.
“After four years of a modern-day assault on those same values by Donald Trump, the Biden/Harris team pledges a return to norms, including the truth,” Amanpour continued. “And, every day, Joe Biden makes presidential announcements about good governance and the health and security of the American people, while the great brooding figure of his defeated opponent rages, conducting purges of perceived enemies and preventing a transition.”
Hannity then played several clips of leftist media figures and analysts who, over the past four years, repeatedly referred to President Trump as racist and authoritarian.
After the host threw it over to her, Bruce blasted Amanpour for her comparison as well as other left-wing journalists and Democrats who have made similarly false and outrageous claims.
“Let me just tell you, with Christiane Amanpour especially, but the left entirely and the Democratic Party, using the suffering of people to get more for themselves, whether it’s about the Nazis and the pain and suffering of the Jewish people, or Van Jones talking about morals and norms and being proud…I didn’t hear him saying that when those riots were going on, burning down the businesses of women, of people of color, destroying the inner city, ruining the sense of safety for women throughout this country,” Bruce began, adding that some of the same protesters moved into suburbs to terrorize people and beat up others on the street.
“This is about President Trump changing this nation so that everyone felt that the future was theirs again,” she said, adding that he increased “his numbers with every minority group” and “married women.”
“It is about knowing that our families will be safe, stopping this obscene use of a crisis and of suffering including the coronavirus, instilling fear so that they could try and steal an election,” Bruce continued. “And all because they’re embarrassed because he’s the holder of the secrets. Because with every success of his, he exposed their failure.
Bruce then riffed on New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo over his refusal to accept the efficacy of a new COVID-19 vaccine by Pfizer because it was developed very quickly under Trump’s direction.
“No matter the suffering, they do not care,” Bruce continued. “Because Donald Trump showed everybody, not just the Democratic Party, what a failure and frauds they were, but the entire system.”
“That is the problem with a Christiane Amanpour, the extreme,” she said, adding that her and other leftist journalists’ references to “Nazism and Hitler exposes how little they think of that horrific time of massacre and genocide to lower it to a point to use it as a little football during political arguments.
“How dare they,” Bruce railed.
Other media figures were equally appalled including liberal writer Glenn Greenwald.
“Weimar Jews and the Holocaust that followed have become fun little playthings – media toys – for journalists to casually toss around, use and exploit to make themselves feel way more important than they are and to elevate fear. This is repugnant and offensive,” he tweeted in response to Amanpour’s statement.
TV personalities on MSNBC and CNN know the only chance they have to keep people watching is to terrorize them into high levels of adrenaline and fear. So they have spent 4 years shrieking about fascist coups, concentration camps, and Nazi dictatorships. It's deplorable.
