It was highly predictable that the Never-Trump grifters at the Lincoln Project would look to come back into the fold should President Trump be defeated, though they may have miscalculated how conservatives would respond to members who sold out to cash in on the left’s quest for Trump-hating Republicans.

That assessment taking the huge leap to assume they had principles to begin with.

Former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele, who was quick to turn on the party and the president after vacating his seat, said in an appearance on MSNBC that the Lincoln Project “and other Republicans and former Republicans out there will continue the work of trying to resolve internally and resurrect the party in a way that it can become a governing majority in the future.”

But the folks at RedState shut that talk down real quick, detailing how these “losers” were part of the problem that led to Donald Trump.

“Why the hell do members of the Lincoln Project think they have a place in rebuilding any part of the Republican Party?” asked RedState contributor Jeff Charles. “It was the ineptitude of the people involved with this organization that made Trump necessary in the first place. If Trump hadn’t managed to expose and unseat these feckless establishmentarians, it would definitely be in need of resurrection in 2020.”

Charles cited chief grifter Rick Wilson, the once-proud owner of a Confederate cooler that was emblazoned with the message “The South will Rise Again,” to note the irony of  him “crafting a messaging strategy that would have gotten a Republican president increased black and Latino support.”

“The Lincoln Project losers made their choice,” Charles concluded. “They wanted to side with the Democrats, who ironically enough, are rejecting them. At this point, these people won’t have any place in any significant conservative movement because they decided to let their petty squabbles with Trump push them to aid the left. They made this bed, now they will have to lie in it.”

In addition to opposing the Trump presidency, this cabal of losers has been actively working to defeat Republican senators, with Wilson just boasting online that they’ll now turn their attentions to the two run-off elections in Georgia to help Democrats in retaking the Senate — given how poorly they affected the other races, this may be the best news Republicans could hear.

At the same time, Democrats are indeed turning on them — in large part because of their failings.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., said in a tweet that the Lincoln Project “is def in scam territory w these results.

The democratic socialist lawmaker called for a little wealth redistribution involving the super PAC — being among the media’s favorite Trump haters paid handsomely.

Steele responded to RedState to proclaim “we [at the Lincoln Project] supported the winner.”

“And remember that ‘Autopsy’ of the GOP, well resurrection is what happens after a thing dies,” he added, suggesting that the Republican Party is dead.

Here’s a sampling of responses to the rejection of the Lincoln Project losers from Twitter:
