Conservative talk radio king Rush Limbaugh issued a dire plea to Americans who are fearful of losing the country’s bedrock founding principles if Democrats retake control of the government after the elections next week.

Sitting in his home library ahead of Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s swearing-in as the U.S. Supreme Court’s newest justice, Limbaugh, who is battling stage 4 lung cancer, suggested Nov. 3 is a make-or-break election for the future of the country.

“I’m sitting here getting ready to watch the confirmation vote…and it just reminds me, folks, we don’t have a choice in this election. It’s got to be Donald Trump,” Limbaugh said.

“We’re not gonna have the kind of country everybody thinks we have, this is not the old Republicans versus Democrats where we all have the same objectives, just different philosophies in how to get there,” he continued.

Democrats “do not have those objectives anymore,” he continued. “Their purpose is to erase the Constitution, start over rewriting it, eliminating the concept of the citizen has rights which prevail over government,” the conservative talker continued.

“It’s serious and it’s scary and we don’t have a choice. You have to get out there and vote Trump,” Limbaugh intoned.

In recent weeks, Democrats have called for ‘packing’ the U.S. Supreme Court with like-minded justices by adding to the current nine-seat bench, a call that has amplified in the wake of constitutional originalist Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s appointment.

“Expand the court,” self-avowed Democratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York wrote on Twitter after the ceremonial swearing-in by Associate Justice Clarence Thomas.

“Republicans do this because they don’t believe Dems have the stones to play hardball like they do. And for a long time they’ve been correct,” she continued. “But do not let them bully the public into thinking their bulldozing is normal but a response isn’t. There is a legal process for expansion.”

Ocasio-Cortez’s call was seconded by a far-left group she is associated with, Justice Democrats, which has backed like-minded challengers to incumbent Democrats not seen as progressive enough.

For his part, neither Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden nor his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris of California, have answered direct questions about whether they support expanding the Supreme Court. In the past, however, Biden has opposed it.

A letter to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) from 21 elected New York state officials used incendiary language to claim that the Supreme Court is now “illegitimate” while pushing him and Senate Democrats, should they take control of the chamber after Nov. 3, to expand it.

“This court is illegitimate, and must not be allowed to wreak misery on millions of Americans in service of a far-right minority and their corporate backers,” the letter, first reported by The Intercept, said, according to Fox News. “Congressional Democrats must end the filibuster and pass legislation to expand the court. Should he win, Joe Biden must sign it into law.”

“We must expand the Court if we’re serious about the transformational change the people are crying out for,” Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) added.

“Remember that Republicans have lost 6 of the last 7 popular votes, but have appointed 6 of the last 9 justices,” Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) tweeted. “By expanding the court we fix this broken system and have the court better represent the values of the American people.”

Limbaugh’s warning echoes a very similar one made earlier this month by another top conservative radio talker and Fox News host, Mark Levin.

“The Democrat Party wants to destroy this country,” he told fellow Fox News host Sean Hannity. “That’s why it intends to attack the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court’s one of our three branches. The Democrat Party is saying, ‘we don’t give a damn. If that branch doesn’t bow to our will, we’re going to destroy it.’”

“They want to destroy half of Congress by loading it up with Democrats, so there’s Democrats in Congress that control that body for a generation,” he added. “Then they want to destroy the legislative process, so nothing can be done.

“The Democrat Party is not this country,” he said. “It doesn’t get to rule over us. It doesn’t get to have monopoly power over our government. And yet that’s what it seeks.”
