‘I really, really wanted to vote Biden. But…’ Trump sways undecided voters in L.A. Times focus group

A group of “undecided voters” in a Los Angeles Times focus group delivered a stunning consensus on the final debate between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden.

While the liberal media and Trump critics bashed the president’s performance Thursday night, many viewers who actually watched his strong showing against the Democratic presidential nominee came away with a far different assessment. Pollster Frank Luntz spoke with one group of voters who overwhelmingly concluded after the debate that Trump had swayed their thinking.

The group of voters selected by Luntz to participate had to meet certain criteria, including being “currently registered to vote in one of 11 swing states,” according to the Los Angeles Times. The participants, who were each paid $100 for their time, also had to describe themselves as “possible” Biden or Trump voters, “defined themselves as independents” and considered themselves “undecided.”

Trump was lauded for his solid debate performance as Biden often seemed rattled by the facts he was confronted with. Yet the left-wing media proved their bias once again in commentary disguised as reporting. CNN’s Jake Tapper held nothing back as he accused Trump of “running the single most negative, sleazy campaign in American history.”

But the group of voters convened by Luntz saw the president acting “controlled” and “poised” while Biden was characterized as being “vague” and “defensive.”

“If I had to go with one person I’d probably go with Trump because at least he has proven something in his 4 years,” a voter named Keita from Georgia said in the virtual focus group.

“People running for office have to tell you what they plan to do and how they’re going to do it,” another said. “I thought Joe Biden would tell us tonight, but there was nothing there.”

“My response according to tonight, I will be voting for Donald Trump based on the information he was able to answer. Whereas Joe Biden was very elusive…,” Tasha from Ohio said, adding that she didn’t see how Biden could lead the nation and he wasn’t “as quick on the draw” during the debate.

When the voters were asked about “character,” Luntz noted that they felt Biden “is a more decent person, but they side more with Trump’s policies and how they affect their daily lives.”

Biden made his plea to voters during one portion of the event, saying “What is on the ballot here is the character of this country — decency, honor, respect, treating people with dignity and making sure that everyone has a chance.”

Some of the focus group of undecided voters seemed to be struggling with admitting that they were leaning toward choosing Trump.

And one voter had some harsh words for the mainstream media.

“I think tonight just proved that Donald Trump can be presidential & can control himself & be restrained,” Holly from Arizona concluded.

The president took to social media to tout some polls that showed he was the clear winner in the debate. But a snap poll of nearly 500 voters by YouGov found that 54% believed that Biden won the debate, while 35% believed that Trump won.

A CNN poll pegged Biden the winner with 53 percent and the Data For Progress snap poll showed Biden with 52 percent, and Trump at 41 percent.

The president’s son, Eric Trump, shared a tweet that showed a Twitter poll posted by CNN’s Chris Cillizza had delivered a resounding defeat for Biden.
