British journalist Piers Morgan accused the mainstream media of trying to “hide” something by ignoring the scandal involving the son of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
The co-host of “Good Morning Britain” spoke with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson about the media’s bias and blasted journalists for the “conspiracy” to cover up the story on Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings and the discoveries allegedly made on his laptop computer.
“It doesn’t matter what side you’re on here. Journalism, freedom of speech, dictates — the First Amendment dictates — that when a story like this drops, and it’s not being denied by the people it’s accusing for six days now, clearly there is something there that they want to hide,” Morgan said on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Tuesday.
“The job of a newspaper, of a television network, of anybody, frankly, in the media, who believes in freedom of speech and believes in journalism is to go and investigate the allegations the New York Post has made,” he added referring to the bombshell report by the newspaper revealing documents related to the younger Biden and his business activities when his father was serving as vice president in the Obama administration.

Morgan also targeted technology companies like Twitter and Facebook for “suppressing” the story, speaking of the response by the platforms to essentially ban the sharing of the Post’s explosive report. He slammed the double standard and how things would be markedly different if the subject of the controversy was Donald Trump Jr. and not Hunter Biden.
“It is not the job of tech giants such as Facebook and Twitter to have an instinctive reaction to suppress every element of that story. Or for most of the mainstream media to say ‘nothing to see here, in fact the only story is this terrible smear on the Bidens,'” Morgan told Carlson.
The liberal media talking heads have been patting each other on the back for their handling of Hunter Biden story but Intercept editor Glenn Greenwald blasted the complicit media for banding together and creating a “cone of silence” around the Biden scandal.
“Imagine if we switched the names around. Imagine if the story was about Donald Trump Jr. and Donald Trump. What would be happening?” Morgan asked on Fox News. “Do you think that the tech giants would be suppressing the story? Would the mainstream media be ignoring the story and say that it’s all just an unfair smear on the Trumps?”
Morgan added that the lack of media coverage is “one of the most extraordinary collective suppressions of freedom of speech” that he has seen, admitting that, even as a liberal himself, he doesn’t understand why the left-wing political movement wants to “attack and suppress freedom of speech.”
He went on to argue that Biden needs to address the allegations directly instead of hiding away or lashing out at reporters. The former vice president has not issued a clear denial but has condemned the allegations as a “smear campaign.”
“If Joe Biden was to win does he think this story goes away? Of course it doesn’t. It would be like every other scandal that’s bedeviled presidents when they’ve tried to hide something. Joe Biden needs to come out, he needs to talk about this, but there is such tribalism now I think in America,” Morgan said, noting how similar incidents have unfolded in the United Kingdom.
“It’s driven by social media, everyone gets in their tribe and they can’t deviate from it,” he added, contending that if Biden wants to be president, the media must “expose him to exactly the same scrutiny you would do if it was Donald Trump and his son and at the moment, that is not happening.”
“There is a conspiracy happening right in front of our eyes to make this story go away and Joe Biden, you know, he wants to be the decent candidate. He wants to be the antidote to the devilish Donald Trump,” Morgan concluded. “Okay, then come forward and speak honestly and openly about these allegations.”
