President Donald Trump ripped Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., Tuesday morning, saying the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee should be investigated for trying to lay down a cover story that the Hunter Biden laptop controversy is a Russian disinformation campaign.

The president appeared on “Fox & Friends” and referred to the computer that was apparently abandoned at a repair shop by Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s son as “the laptop from hell.”

Trump was asked to respond to the Democrats’ cover story that the controversy was part of a smear coming “from the Kremlin,” as Schiff said over the weekend.

“It’s just crazy. I saw Shifty Schiff get up yesterday and say this is Russia. He’s a sick man. He is so sick,” Trump said. “We went through two and a half years of that, plus. This guy, he ought to be put away, or he ought to be, you know, something should happen with him.”

“Thank goodness we had John Ratcliffe that came out — the head of DNI — and he said it’s absolutely false, there’s nothing, nothing to do with Russia,” the president added.

Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe on Monday said Biden’s laptop “is not part of some Russian disinformation campaign.”

He also confirmed that the laptop is “in the jurisdiction of the FBI.”

“The FBI has had possession of this,” Ratcliffe said. “Without commenting on any investigation that they may or may not have, their investigation is not centered around Russian disinformation and the intelligence community is not playing any role with respect to that.”

“Adam Schiff ought to be investigated for what he does,” Trump declared. “He said the laptop conceived and dedicated by Russia. This is crazy.”

The president also expressed frustration with Attorney General Bill Barr, saying he has to act before the election.

Fill-in host Will Cain cited a letter from House Republicans demanding the Justice Department “immediately appoint an independent unbiased special counsel” to look into the matter, asking Trump if he will appoint a special prosecutor.

“We’ve got to get the attorney general to act,” Trump replied. “He’s got to act, and he’s got to act fast. He’s got to appoint somebody.”

“This is major corruption and this has to be known about before the election,” he said.

The president also expressed confidence in how he will fare in two weeks.

“By the way, we’re doing very well. We’re going to win the election,” he said. “We’re doing very well. If you look at all of what’s happening and all of the people that come in and don’t come in, you take a look all around the country, with Texas early voting, those are our votes too, and we’re doing well in Texas. I mean I just got a report, we’re doing great in Texas, but we’re doing great all over.

“But forget that,” Trump added. “This has to be done early so the attorney general has to act.”
