Journalist and former attorney Glenn Greenwald blasted the liberal media for working to “defend” Joe Biden and “manipulate the American people.”

The Intercept founding editor accused the media of banding together to protect the Democratic presidential nominee and create a “cone of silence” around the scandal over his son Hunter Biden. Greenwald unloaded on so-called journalists in a series of scathing tweets Monday and followed up in an interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

Reports about emails connected to Hunter Biden and his corrupt dealings with overseas companies while his father served as vice president in the Obama administration continue to be largely ignored by the mainstream media. With Election Day looming, the liberal media appears to be covering for the Biden campaign, Greenwald contended on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Monday.

He slammed House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff as “the most pathological liar in all of American politics” after his claims about the emails allegedly found on the younger Biden’s laptop. The California Democrat had claimed last week that “this whole smear on Joe Biden comes from the Kremlin.”

Greenwald accused Schiff of making up lies “at the drop of a hat the way other people change underwear” and called out journalists for not pressing Biden to answer questions about the explosive reports.

“The reason they don’t answer the questions,” he said of the Biden family, “is because the media has signaled that they don’t have to, that the journalists will be attacked and vilified simply for asking.”

Greenwald pointed out that the propaganda put out by the intelligence committee has been used domestically for partisan purposes even though that was not the original intent.

“What we have seen since 2016, going back to the 2016 campaign, is incessant involvement in U.S. domestic politics working with journalists to disseminate information purely for partisan ends,” he told Carlson.

“If you want to talk about things like violating norms and dangers to democracy, what is more dangerous than allowing the CIA constantly to be manipulating our politics by making cover for the Biden campaign by claiming anonymously that the Russians are behind the story … even if the Russians were behind the story, why does that alleviate the responsibility of journalists to evaluate these emails and examine whether or not Joe Biden actually engaged in misconduct?” Greenwald continued.

“But the much bigger point is the way that this information is being disseminated. It is a union of journalists who have decided that their only goal is to defend Joe Biden and elect him as the president of the United States working with the CIA and the FBI and the NSA, not to manipulate our adversaries or foreign governments, but to manipulate the American people for their own ends,” he added. “It’s been going on for four straight years now and there’s no sign of it stopping anytime soon.”

Greenwald confronted journalists and their “willingness to go to bat” for Biden in a string of tweets leveled earlier on Monday. He challenged the media “to say with a straight face they believe the emails relating to the Bidens are either fabricated or otherwise fraudulently altered.”

“When you report a huge archive, there’s no way to prove the negative that none of it is altered,” he explained. “You investigate & confirm as much as you can, then use your journalistic judgment. The only way you get confirmation is when the subjects of the reporting don’t deny the authenticity.”

“As a journalist publishing private communications & docs that are incriminating, you know the subjects of the reporting will immediately claim they’re fake *if the[y] are*,” Greenwald continued. “Of course they will: that would kill the reporting! There’s a reason the Bidens aren’t claiming they’re fake.”

“I don’t think that the emails — so far — reveal a huge scandal,” Greenwald concluded.

“They so far just establish standard sleaze and DC corruption,” he added. “The huge scandal to me is the blatant rank-closing and cone of silence — a prohibition — erected *by journalists* around this story to defend Biden.”
