Michigan Senate candidate John James eviscerated Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden in a video message after he called the Republican a “disaster.”
The West Point graduate who served eight years in the Army promised Biden that he would, in fact, be a disaster but for the Democrat’s and their narrative. James called out the former vice president in a blistering video he posted on Twitter reminding Biden of his “place in black America.”
James, a successful businessman and Iraq War veteran, is in a heated race against Democratic incumbent Sen. Gary Peters in the swing state that President Donald Trump won in 2016. Biden was speaking at a campaign event in Detroit last week when he slammed James and Republicans for efforts against the Affordable Care Act.
“Your opponent calls it a disaster,” Biden told Peters during the speech at a drive-in rally in Southfield on Friday.
“Talk about a disaster – there’s a disaster. The guy is 2,000% or 200% – or whatever it is – with Trump. I hope everybody remembers,” he added, referring to comments made by James in unsuccessful 2018 Senate bid against Democrat Debbie Stabenow, stating he was 2000% in support of Trump.

James fired back in a video message telling the Democrat that he has “some serious issues.”
“Joe Biden, don’t forget your place in black America,” the 39-year-old Republican said. “You’re only where you are because you were Barack Obama’s vice president. That’s it. That’s it.”

“The people you’re relying on so desperately for the position you’re in and for the position you want, are African-Americans—yet, you continue to insult us,” James said, addressing the Democrat presidential nominee, and bringing up examples of Biden’s past remarks including telling African Americans “you ain’t black” if they choose to vote for Trump.
“You ain’t Black if you don’t vote for me. Asking somebody if they’re a junkie. Calling the president, Barack Obama, ‘clean,’ as if he wouldn’t be for some other reason?” James said.
“You have some serious issues, Joe Biden,” he added. “The biggest of which you were in power for 44 years and black folks continue to fall behind.”
“You have problems, Joe Biden, because the same votes that you’re courting, talking about racial injustice, you authored the crime bill—or have you forgotten? You’re responsible for sending a generation of what you call super predators to jail. You’re responsible for breaking the black family apart or at least not helping, continuing to support sending us to failing schools, making sure that our outcomes are tied to our ZIP Codes,” the GOP candidate continued.
He put Biden on his place over the remarks he made at the Michigan campaign event.
“Yeah, it’s a disaster for Democrats in Michigan right now, because right now, you have an African-American running in the Republican Party—not because the party is perfect, but because I can think for myself,” he said.
“I was raised by two Democrats in the Jim Crow south, with the values of faith and family, God and country, and service before self. Those are American values,” he told Biden.
James also took a shot at his opponent, saying Peters is “someone who has been in a position to help and has failed for 30 years.”
Polls show a tight race between James and the Democratic incumbent.

James slammed Peters for refusing to debate him, calling him out as an “ineffective career politician who’s benefiting on the backs of taxpayers.”
“If he was proud of his record—if he’s telling the truth about me and not lying, then why wouldn’t he want the most number of people to see that?” James asked in another video.

“He’s afraid of his record, and quite frankly, he’s afraid of me,” he added. “If he’s gonna say he’s gonna stand up for Michigan, and he won’t even stand next to me on a debate stage—you should seriously question his motivation and what he’s trying to hide.”
