Actress Jane Fonda, who has been stumping for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, said during a Zoom session posted online that she thinks COVID-19 is “God’s gift to the left” because it provides Democrats with a pathway to power.

“We can stop fascism. We are at a point where we can — this is a crossroads, it’s an existential crossroads and — and we are people who can help determine which way humanity goes,” she said.

“What a great gift. What a tremendous opportunity. We’re just so lucky. We have to use it with every ounce of intelligence and courage and wherewithal we have,” Fonda continued.

“Because you’re absolutely right, this is it. This is it. And you know, I just think COVID is God’s gift to the left,” Fonda added, giggling.

“Yeah,” says an unidentified black man in response.

“That’s a terrible thing to say. I mean, I think it was a very difficult thing to send down to us, but it has ripped the band-aid off who he is and what he stands for and what is being done to average people and working people in this country,” Fonda continued, likely a reference to President Donald Trump and his administration’s response to the pandemic.

“We can see it now. People who couldn’t see it before, you know, they see it now. And we have a chance to harness that anger and make a difference. So I just — I feel so blessed to be alive right now,” she added.

Last month, Fonda joined Biden running mate Sen. Kamala Harris of California for a virtual event called, “Supercharge: Women All In,” which was sponsored by a left-wing group, Supermajority.

The event sought to “bring together thousands of women to laugh, sing, dance, and celebrate women’s political power,” according to the group’s website.

Fonda became infamous for traveling to North Vietnam in 1972 as part of an anti-war protest where she posed for photos with enemy soldiers manning an anti-aircraft gun. The picture outraged Vietnam veterans in the U.S., as her trip came while Americans were still fighting the war and while scores were still being held in North Vietnamese POW camps.

The trip, which was used as propaganda by the North Vietnamese, earned her the nickname “Hanoi Jane.”

Fonda’s virtual appearance with Harris came as the Biden campaign was criticizing President Donald Trump over veteran’s issues. During a “veterans roundtable’ last month, Biden ripped Trump for ignoring “the bounty on the heads of Americans in Afghanistan,” a reference to June reports claiming that Russia paid Taliban fighters to kill Americans.

A day before the roundtable, however, Marine Corps Gen. Frank McKenzie, commander of Central Command, which oversees the region, said in an interview with NBC News that U.S. intelligence officials could not corroborate the bounty claim.

As for Fonda, she has long been a financial supporter of Harris as well, donating almost $6,000 to the California Democrat’s Senate campaign since 2016. In addition, Fonda gave $1,000 to the Biden Victory Fund in June after donating $10,300 in total to Sens. Amy Klobuchar (Minn.), and Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), along with Democratic Govs. Steve Bullock (Mont.) and Jay Inslee (Wash.), as well as billionaire Tom Steyer during the Democratic presidential primaries.

According to the Washington Free Beacon, Supermajority was founded in 2019 by left-wing figures including former Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards and Black Lives Matter co-founder Alicia Garza, the latter of whom has admitted to being a “trained Marxist,” along with BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors.
