As was suggested by Red State senior editor Brandon Morse, we are missing the boat as a society if we fail to study “the effects of whatever psychological affliction the left is currently suffering from.”

In a recent appearance on CNN, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, said that President Donald Trump had broken the network, but it would be fair to apply that analogy to the left as a whole.

Nowhere has this been more apparent than the reaction to the president seemingly beating COVID-19, and doing so in record time. But even before Trump was released from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Monday, where he was being treated, the nation saw despicable reactions from some on the left, to include people publicly expressing their hope that Trump dies from the virus.

One such individual, a Maryland educator, has resigned after reportedly posting on Facebook, “Since [Trump] has tested positive for COVID19, maybe the country will get lucky and he will die. Wouldn’t that be an act of karma!”

“He could care less how many Americans die from this even if he is the one who exposed them. I hope he dies from it. That would solve a lot of America’s problems,” the post also said.

The unhinged comments were allegedly posted by Jacqueline Fischer on her personal page, and the Washington County Board of Education member will resign her position as a result, according to WFMD.

The Washington County Board Of Education released a statement on Sunday saying the board will accept Fischer’s resignation at Tuesday’s meeting, and that they would be issuing a public statement at that time, the radio station reported.

The release said the board was aware of the comments posted by Fischer and noted that the remarks “are from one individual member of the Board of Education and do not reflect the views, positions, or opinions of WCPS or the WCBOE.”

The local Republican Party had released a statement calling for Fischer’s removal.

“The Washington County Republican Central Committee condemns Washington County Board of Education Member Jacqueline Fischer for her public statements that were laced with vulgar epithets, that she hopes the President of the United States dies from his recently announced coronavirus infection,” the release said. “Further Ms. Fisher stated that President Trump deserved to be infected, and that the country would be lucky if he dies. Such conduct from a Washington County public official is inexcusable and offends the shared values of our community. The Central Committee supports and hereby calls for the immediate suspension and removal of Ms. Fischer from the Board of Education.”

Of course, Fischer, who was fittingly a former journalism teacher, was far from the only deranged liberal to make such a wish.

The most notable individual appears to have been Zara Rahim, the former national spokesperson for Hillary Clinton and a former Obama staffer.

Shortly after Trump announced he had tested positive for Covid-19, Rahim reportedly tweeted: “It’s been against my moral identity to tweet this for the past four years, but, I hope he dies.”
