[Editor’s Note: We initially reported that the White House denied early reports that the president received oxygen. But subsequent reports have since confirmed that President Trump did, indeed, undergo brief oxygen therapy at the White House shortly before departing for Walter Reed Medical Center on Friday, per the recommendation of pulmonologist Dr. Sean Conley.]
It’s been 16+ hours since CNN chief White House correspondent falsely claimed that President Donald Trump was “having some trouble breathing,” and not surprisingly, he’s still 100 percent wrong, according to Walter Reed Medical Center pulmonologist Dr. Sean Dooley.
“The president this morning is not on oxygen, not having difficulty breathing or walking around,” Dooley announced at a presser around noon Saturday afternoon.
The doctor added, “He is in good spirits. We were completing the rounds this morning, the quote he left us with was, “I feel like I could walk out of here today.’ That was very encouraging from him.”

Earlier in the presser, Physician to the President Sean Conley explained his reasoning for having moved the president to Walter Reed Medical Center the night before.
“I recommended we bring the president up to Walter Reed as a precautionary measure to provide state-of-the-art monitoring and any care he may need,” he said.
“Seventy-two hours into his diagnosis now, the first week of COVID, and particularly this day is the most critical in determining the course of this illness. The team and I are happy with the progress that he has made. Thursday he had a mild cough and some nasal congestion and fatigue, which are now resolving.”
Not once has Conley, Dooley or any other medical official reported that the president was having difficulty breathing, despite claims from Acosta.
“It’s important to note that the president’ been fever-free for over 24 hours. We remain cautiously optimistic, but he’s doing great. One other note. It should be clear that he’s got plenty of work to get done from the chief of staff, and he’s doing it,” Conley added.
Work is in fact what he’s been prescribed, according to Dr. Brian Garibaldi, another member of the medical team caring for the president at Walter Reed.
“The plan for today since he is doing well is to encourage him to eat and drink and stay hydrated and be up out of bed and working and doing the things that he needs to do to get well,” Garibaldi said during the presser before going on to describe other components of the president’s treatment plan.
“About 48 hours ago, the president received a special antibody therapy, and we are working closely with the company to monitor him in terms of that outcome. Yesterday evening he received his first dose of IV Remdesivir. Our plan is to continue a five-day course.”

What remains unclear is how long the president will remain at the hospital.
“He is doing well, but with the known course of the illness, from day seven to 10 we get really concerned about the inflammatory phase,” Conley explained.
“Given that we provided some of these advanced therapies so early in the course, a little bit earlier than most of the patients we know and follow, it’s hard to tell where he is on that courage, so every day we’re evaluating does he need to be here, what does he need and where is he going.”
Besides being on Remdesivir, a drug that’s shown promising results, the president’s also been given an experimental antibody injection developed by Regeneron and is also taking zinc, vitamin D, famotidine, melatonin and aspirin.
The update Saturday afternoon came roughly 18 hours after the president posted an unexpected video announcement to Twitter revealing that he was doing very well but was “going to Walter Reed hospital” anyway “to make sure that things work out.”

Five hours later, the president posted the following update from the hospital:
Going welI, I think! Thank you to all. LOVE!!!

The media meanwhile were continuing to spread anonymously sourced information that seemed to contradict what was coming from the medical officials actually treating the president.
“[A] source familiar with the president’s health told reporters … that Mr. Trump’s vitals were ‘very concerning,'” CBS News reported after the presser Saturday.
“The president’s vitals over the last 24 hours were very concerning and the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of his care. We’re still not on a clear path to a full recovery,” the outlet’s source allegedly said.
The media have also taken to questioning Conley’s credibility:
Dr. Sean Conley is being coy and evasive, giving conflicting information on whether Trump has been on oxygen and when was he diagnosed. This is unacceptable. His credibility is in question.
— Josh Rogin (@joshrogin) October 3, 2020
Said 72 hours into diagnosis (Trump told the public 35 hours ago)
Won’t say when his last negative test was
Was evasive on questions about oxygen
Won’t detail what heart and lung scans revealed
Won’t answer about steroids
Won’t reveal how high fever was

The doctor in charge of Trump obviously sidestepped questions about oxygen, made it abundantly clear he’s been on oxygen but is under orders to put a spin on this.
I wish ONE THING in this sham of a presidency could be treated with transparency.

Dr. Sean Conley is not being straight with the American people. He can’t even give us a clear answer as to whether Trump’s been on oxygen. I can’t believe a word this guy said.
