CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin raised eyebrows and speculation after posting a mysterious message announcing she would be off the air until at least after the election.

In a social media message celebrating her 10-year anniversary at the network, Baldwin also revealed she would step away from her CNN show and that colleague Jake Tapper will “hold down” her hour for the next few weeks. In a back and forth with fans responding to her Instagram post, Baldwin noted that it was not her choice to be off the air.

Baldwin assured fans that she is “healthy” and will be back on the air after many raised questions about her battle with coronavirus back in April. She was diagnosed with COVID-19 within days of fellow CNN Anchor Chris Cuomo back in April.

“Oct 1, 2020: It was on this day TEN YEARS AGO when I first started anchoring my own show on CNN (technically it wasn’t *my* show that very first day… but little did I know, after an unexpected chain of events, those two hours would become mine),” Baldwin began her lengthy Instagram post on Friday.

Oct 1, 2020: It was on this day TEN YEARS AGO when I first started anchoring my own show on CNN (technically it wasn’t *my* show that very first day… but little did I know, after an unexpected chain of events, those two hours would become mine). I have cherished my time with you this past decade. It’s been a dream of mine to work at CNN… I’m a home town girl (ATL 🍑), and this has always been my hometown network. In the last ten years, we’ve witnessed history together. I’ve laughed and cried with you… I’ve rung in many a New Year with you 🥂. I’ve been sick with you. I have GROWN with you. Sitting in that seat live on CNN every afternoon has been and still is an absolute privilege. I’m a marker of major moments and this day matters to me every year — and I owe you all a massive THANK YOU. Thank you for tuning in. Thank you for finding me here on IG. Thank you for caring. As the election gears up, the political maestro @jaketapper will hold down my hour and his for the coming weeks. Wish I was was with you, but I’ll see ya on 📺 on the flip side of the election. In the meantime, you know where to find me. Oh, and you see my necklace? Don’t forget to vote. 👊🏼 #gratitude #10years #anchorversary #cnn #Journalism #thankyou Me today —> Me 10 years ago #notanaturalblonde 😉

“As the election gears up, the political maestro @jaketapper will hold down my hour and his for the coming weeks,” she wrote, referring to her colleague, called out as a “Trump-hating Democrat hack” by Mark Levin. Tapper already anchors CNN’s “The Lead With Jake Tapper” on weekdays and Sunday morning’s “State of the Union.”

“Wish I was was with you, but I’ll see ya on [TV[ on the flip side of the election. In the meantime, you know where to find me. Oh, and you see my necklace? Don’t forget to vote,” Baldwin concluded.

Many found it odd that Baldwin would tout the network and her great decade of experiences there but then announce her hiatus heading into a pivotal election season.

“Are you still at CNN? It’s not clear what you are saying. Are you coming back?” one Instagram user asked.

Her absence from the air and her message to fans sparked a flurry of responses on Twitter.
