Fox News host Chris Wallace, who moderated Tuesday evening’s first debate between President Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden, rephrased the controversial “critical race theory” as “racial sensitivity training” during a question about “systemic racism.”

The rebranding came as Wallace asked the president about a recent executive order in which he directed all federal agencies to drop courses of instruction on critical race theory, which pushes the ‘white privilege’ narrative and claims that white men, in particular, are inherently racist.

The order last month followed a report regarding documents leaked from a three-day “reeducation camp” put on by Sandia National Laboratories, one of the country’s nuclear weapons facilities. The documents included training materials from the “race-segregated, taxpayer-funded session.”

After praising the critical race theory as “racial sensitivity training,” Wallace then asked Trump if he believes whether there is “systemic racism in this country.”

“I ended it because it’s racist. I ended it because a lot of people were complaining that they were asked to do things that were absolutely insane,” the president responded.

Trump further noted that the critical race theory instruction is part of “a radical revolution that was taking place in our military, in our schools, all over the place…and you know it and so does everybody else.”

At that, Wallace — who pledged earlier this month not to make the debates about himself — interrupted, “What is radical about racial sensitivity training?”

“If you are a certain person, you had no status in life, it was sort of a reversal,” Trump said. “And if you look at the people, we were paying people hundreds of thousands of dollars to teach very bad ideas, and frankly very sick ideas.

“And really, they were teaching people to hate our country,” he continued. “I’m not going to do that. I’m not going to allow that to happen. We have to go back to the core values of this country.

“They were teaching people that our country is a horrible place, it’s a racist place, and I’m not gonna allow that to happen,” the president said.

Filmmaker and policy researcher Christopher Rufo shared documents online in August for a course entitled, “White Men’s Caucus on Eliminating Racism, Sexism, and Homophobia in Organizations.”

The materials contained phrases associated with white males such as “KKK,” “Aryan Nation,” “privileged,” and “mass killings.” Other words included “MAGA hat” — a reference to the president’s “Make America Great Again” 2016 campaign message, and “patriotic,” “hard worker,” and “football.”

“The trainers insist that white males must ‘work hard to understand’ their ‘white privilege,’ ‘male privilege,’ and ‘heterosexual privilege.’ They claim that white men benefit from positive stereotypes that ‘far outweigh the Tim McVeighs and Ted Kaczynskis of white maleness,’” Rufo, a Research Fellow at Discovery Institute, noted.

In an interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson earlier this month, Rufo called on President Trump to “immediately issue” an order to eliminate the propaganda-like training which he said is being “weaponized” against American citizens.

“It’s absolutely astonishing how critical race theory has pervaded every institution in the federal government,” Rufo said.

“What I have discovered is that critical race theory has become, in essence, the default ideology of the federal bureaucracy and is now being weaponized against the American people,” he added, noting further he had been documenting how widespread the instruction had become throughout the federal government for six months.

“Critical race theory has actually now infiltrated our criminal justice system,” he said, adding that the FBI is now “holding weekly seminars on intersectionality,” which is “a hard-left academic theory that reduces people to a network of racial, gender and sexual orientation identities, that intersect in complex ways and determine whether you are an oppressor or oppressed.”

He said “conservatives need to wake up,” warning further that the material amounts to an “existential threat to the United States and that bureaucracy, even under the Trump Administration, is now being weaponized against core traditional American values.”
