It’s not a stretch to think that President Donald Trump’s campaign doesn’t trust the opposition ahead of Tuesday night’s presidential debate on Fox News, the first of the election cycle.
Trump had requested an additional ground-rule ahead of tonight’s debate, that a third party inspector be allowed to check the ears of each candidate for electronic devices or transmitters.
That’s according to Fox News, who reported that the president has consented to this kind of inspection, but Biden camp had “not — so far” conceded.
The Daily Caller soon reported that the Biden team had denied that request.
The move is just the latest effort by Trump to make 77-year-old Joe Biden’s physical and mental fitness a campaign issue.

Fox News also reported that the Biden campaign requested a break every 30 minutes in the 90 minute debate.
**Update: Biden deputy campaign manager Kate Bedingfield, later told the Fox News that the claims were ‘absurd’ and a request for breaks did not come from the Biden camp. Bedingfield told Fox:
“[Trump’s] staff seems concerned that he may not do well tonight and they’re already laying the groundwork for how they’re going to lie about why,” Bedingfield emphasized. “It is completely absurd. Of course, he’s not wearing an earpiece and we never asked for breaks.”
Team Trump rejected the idea, as the president’s stamina has never been in question and the debate will be a good opportunity to see how Biden holds up.

The request to check for electronic devices comes after Trump renewed his call for a blood test ahead of the debate, questioning whether Biden may be taken some type of performance-enhancing drug.
“I will be strongly demanding a Drug Test of Sleepy Joe Biden prior to, or after, the Debate on Tuesday night,” he tweeted. “Naturally, I will agree to take one also. His Debate performances have been record setting UNEVEN, to put it mildly. Only drugs could have caused this discrepancy???”

The Biden campaign’s response to the repeated calls for a drug test to say they will not provide a blood sample — oh, and they had a pee joke.
“Vice President Biden intends to deliver his debate answers in words. If the president thinks his best case is made in urine he can have at it,” deputy campaign manager Kate Bedingfield said, according to Politico. “We’d expect nothing less from Donald Trump, who pissed away the chance to protect the lives of 200K Americans when he didn’t make a plan to stop COVID-19.”
Here’s a sampling of responses to the latest developments from Twitter, with social media users more focused on the break request than electronic devices.
For a change, Republicans are playing hard ball. Wouldn’t be happening without Trump

How does one defend refusing an earpiece check before a debate? If you are not using one, this could not be an easier thing to do.

if Biden doesn’t consent, Trump needs to bring a jamming device.

A break every thirty minutes?
How in the hell do they expect a guy to be President if he can’t even handle a 90 minute debate without having to take a break every thirty minutes? Clown world

Wait, he’s seriously asking for two breaks for a 90 minute debate?

If Biden wins election, we’ll just make sure that any world calamity is limited to a half hour.

When you go to work do you get a break every 30 minutes? The President of the United States should have the stamina to get through a 90-minute debate with no issues.

With just under nine hours to go as of this writing, there are still some who think the debate will not go off as scheduled, that Biden will somehow finagle his way out — if not, this may be one for the ages:
I’ve been wondering myself what the over/under is that it will be canceled and somehow be related to COVID.
