The managing director of a far-left Super PAC funded by billionaire Tom Steyer and linked to a number of Democratic senators was leading the charge against Judge Amy Coney Barrett, even before President Trump formally announced her Supreme Court nomination.
NextGen America PAC managing director John Lee Brougher was among the first to attack Barrett by using the fact that she had adopted two Haitian children as political fodder.
“As an adoptee, I need to know more about the circumstances of how Amy Coney Barrett came to adopt her children, and the treatment of them since,” Brougher said in a since-removed tweet, according to Breitbart News. “Transracial adoption is fraught with trauma and potential for harm.”
NextGen America is running a “Stop Amy Coney Barrett” campaign online as well, urging people to call their senators and push them to “reject” Barrett’s nomination.
Dana Houle, a high-level Democratic operative, also engaged in the despicable line of attack, before deleting his tweet.
“Some adoptions from Haiti were legit. Many were sketchy as hell,” Houle tweeted on Friday. “Would it matter if her kids were scooped up by ultra-religious Americans, or … when there was family in Haiti?”
The tweet drew a hard response from Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark,. who called the attack “disgusting,” while sharing a screenshot of Houle’s tweets on the matter.
Disgusting. The left now smearing Amy Coney Barrett for adopting children. pic.twitter.com/zFomehwwDW

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., also engaged, sharing the same screenshots as he tweeted: “This is the Dem gameplan. Nothing but raw bigotry and hate. I promise you, this will not stand.”
Read this from Democrat activist & Hill staffer. Questioning whether #AmyConeyBarrett *illegally* adopted her children from Haiti, maybe snatching them from birth parents! This is the Dem gameplan. Nothing but raw bigotry and hate. I promise you, this will not stand pic.twitter.com/JEMqhe05dY

To be sure, hitting Barrett over the adoptions was the marching orders, as seen when Ibram X. Kendi, a professor of humanities at Boston University, suggested the Haitian children were “props” as he likened Barrett to “white colonizers.”
Anything to drive a racial narrative.
Steyer, who failed in his bid to win the 2020 Democratic primary, formally endorsed the eventual party nominee Joe Biden in early April, a little over a month after ending his own run.
And The Hill reported earlier this month that NextGen America was spending $1.3 million in a series of presidential and Senate ads to boost Democrats in battleground states — the ad buy part of a $11 million pro-Biden advertising program that has been running since June 1.
And NextGen America expenditures are linked to a baker’s half dozen of Democratic senators, according to Breitbart News.
More from the online news source:
Democrat Senators who have had expenditures either on their behalf or against their opponent or both by NextGen America include Sens. Gary Peters (D-MI), Jacky Rosen (D-NV), Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ). None of those senators’ staffers, asked Monday if they approve of the attacks Brougher leveled against Judge Barrett’s family, replied to a request for comment.
Several Democrat candidates for U.S. Senate also received funding from NextGen America, according to the article, to include Theresa Greenfield in Iowa, Sara Gideon in Maine, and Mark Kelly in Arizona.
Here’s the Super PAC’s goal, as stated on its website: “We’re going to win back the White House and Senate by pledging over 380,000 people from our communities to vote and organizing nearly five million young voters to cast a ballot for progressives.”
