Trump Derangement Syndrome is real …

A woman who works as an associate editor for a news outlet geared toward “millennial moms” has gone viral for all the wrong reasons.

Last week she penned a piece advising people “How To Cope When A Family Member Says They’re Voting For Trump.”

*facepalm*

The piece went viral because folks rightly feel that differing viewpoints shouldn’t require therapeutic advice to handle. Not unless you’re 13, that is.

It also went viral because of the author’s typical misconception of what it means to be a supporter of President Donald Trump.

“Someone you thought was a good and kind person has revealed themselves to be… something different. Someone you love has exposed their support for or tolerance of bigotry, hatred, selfishness, narcissism, bullying, racism, sexism, abuse and violence through their support of Trump,” she wrote.

What?

To link all that with support of America’s duly elected president requires having a paranoid delusional brain that’s completely untethered from reality — especially in this day and age of …

“So here’s the reality you’re – that we’re – currently facing: someone we love is supporting Trump. So what the hell do we do about it?” the piece continues.

Cry like a baby!?

Something like that.

“Well, if you’re like me, you go through the stages of grief,” the author wrote, listing the stages as denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.

But that just doesn’t cut it. TDS victims like her need more, starting with the painful acknowledgment that the Trump-supporting people they love are apparently tacit supporters of “death” and “fascism” …

“It isn’t about Democrat vs. Republican or liberal versus conservative. It is about life and death. It is about democracy versus fascism. It is about hate versus kindness. So, yes, it is perfectly reasonable to feel devastated and horrified that someone you love – someone you had considered to be kind and reasonable and smart – is not the person you thought they were,” she wrote.

Yeah, that feeling probably goes both ways …

The next step, the author wrote, is to “set healthy boundaries,” even if that means “cutting them out completely.”

“Believe me, it is not easy at all. It hurts bad when your MAGA-hat wearing cousin calls you all kinds of names on social media. But this is why the unfollow, unfriend, and block buttons were created. You do not need to subject yourself to bullies and toxic relationships just because someone is related to you,” she wrote.

But didn’t she just basically call her family members racists, bigots, fascists, murderers, the spawn of Hitler, etc., just because they’re Trump-supporting conservatives?

(It’s not clear whether the author realizes that black conservatives exist, as do Indian, Hispanic, Chinese, Japanese, even Muslim conservatives.)

The next step in the author’s therapeutic plan is for the TDS victim to basically create a toxic echo chamber brimming with like-minded leftists who also shriek in terror at the thought of an opposing idea.

“This is not about living in an echo chamber – differences of opinion are still a good thing – but it is about emotional survival, and that requires shared values,” she claimed.

Yes, but if your core value is hatred for Trump, you’re going to wind up with a CNN-like echo chamber …

The last step, the author concluded, is to become a full-fledged Democrat Party activist, of course.

“The only way I’ve found to combat the desperate feelings of woe is to do something. Phone bank. Volunteer to work the polls. Donate to the Biden/Harris campaign and the Democratic parties in swing states. Be vocal about your support for Joe Biden, and why there is no room for Trump in the future we want to build for our country,” she wrote.

“I’ll be honest, 2020 has been a punch in the gut for so many reasons. Learning that someone you love is voting for Trump is brutal and heartbreaking. But remember: your heartbreak over this is also a sign that you care very deeply about building a better country and world. Now get out there and fight like hell to get that monster out of office.”

Good luck, though if he’s the “choice of the people,” that luck won’t amount to much.

Just sayin’ …

See how some conservatives on social media responded to the author’s post below:

At the end of the day, nobody should be taking the author’s advice because treating your family differently because of their political views isn’t healthy.

In other words, the author’s piece is useless.

As useless as this mask:
