President Trump and an army of journalists debunked a dubious Atlantic magazine blog post claiming that Trump had disparaged the military in 2018. Naturally, the story was based on anonymous sources and did not surface until 59 days before the election.
This desperate left-wing attack is patently absurd because Trump has been a vocal supporter of the U.S. Armed Forces since Day 1. And the military supports Trump right back.
Nevertheless, the President posted a Breitbart story dispelling claims that Fox News’ Jennifer Griffin had confirmed the Atlantic blog post entitled “Trump: Americans Who Died in War Are ‘Losers’ and ‘Suckers’.”

The Atlantic claimed that in 2018, Trump had called fallen U.S. troops in World War I France “losers” and “suckers” and that he had canceled a visit to a military cemetery because he didn’t want to get hair wet.
A dozen current and former administration officials went on the record to rubbish the claims. Among them was former White House press secretary Sarah Sanders.
Sanders tweeted: “The Atlantic story is total BS. I was actually there and one of the people part of the discussion. This never happened…I am disgusted by this false attack.”
These were some of the moments I witnessed the President show his heart and demonstrate how much he respects the selfless and courageous men and women of our military. I am disgusted by this false attack.

Even former National Security Advisor John Bolton — a vocal Trump critic — refuted the tabloid gossip.

These are the tweets by Fox News’ Jennifer Griffin, which leftists claim confirm the anti-Trump Atlantic blog post.
According to one former senior Trump administration official: "When the President spoke about the Vietnam War, he said, 'It was a stupid war. Anyone who went was a sucker'."

Re: trip to mark 100th anniversary of WW I
Source: "The President was not in a good mood. Macron had said something that made him mad about American reliability and the need perhaps for a European army. He questioned why he had to go to two cemeteries. 'Why do I have to do two'?"— Jennifer Griffin (@JenGriffinFNC) September 4, 2020
When asked IF the President could have driven to the Aisne-Marne Cemetery, this former official said confidently:
"The President drives a lot. The other world leaders drove to the cemeteries. He just didn't want to go."— Jennifer Griffin (@JenGriffinFNC) September 4, 2020
Regarding McCain, "The President just hated John McCain. He always asked, 'Why do you see him as a hero?" Two sources confirmed the President did not want flags lowered but others in the White House ordered them at half mast. There was a stand off and then the President relented.

Fox News reporter John Roberts — who is not a Trump fan — spoke to “two people who were in the meeting with Trump when the cemetery trip canceling was discussed. One of them is a Trump-hater. Both say that Jeffrey Goldberg’s Atlantic story is NOT TRUE.”

The Washington Post’s Marc Thiessen underscored: “That’s a totally and intentionally inaccurate description of this report. Did NOT confirm the most salacious allegation.”

Journalist Michael Tracey — a self-proclaimed liberal — scoffed at how desperate the Left has become.
Tracey said: “This ‘Trump hates troops’ news cycle is extraordinarily stupid.”

Air Force veteran Anna Paulina Luna tweeted: “The fact that the media is trying to paint Donald Trump as anti-veteran is pathetic. POTUS goes to Walter Reed without the media present to talk to vets.”
Luna posted a photo of Trump visiting a wounded vet, writing: “This was my husband’s team mate (an Air Force Combat Control Specialist), who was shot up, and POTUS surprised him.”

Former Fox News host Greta van Susteren smacked down Jennifer Griffin’s claims:
“Who? This is not a national security issue so source should be named. Former senior Trump officials could be Scaramucci, who was there 11 days and hates Trump. I hate this overuse of anonymous sources.”

A reporter with Real Clear Politics noted: “For a lot of members of the military, far more disturbing than Trump’s alleged comments is the Obama/Biden swap of the Taliban 5 for deserter [Bowe] Bergdahl.”
For a lot of members of the military, veterans and their wives, (including myself), far more disturbing than Trump’s alleged comments is the Obama/Biden swap of the Taliban 5 for deserter Bergdahl. One is an alleged off-the-cuff comment, the other is a policy that speaks volumes.

In December, President Trump was greeted like a rock star when he visited West Point for the 2019 Army-Navy football game in Philadelphia.
Raucous cheers and applause rained down on him from cadets of West Point military academy and their rivals from the U.S. Naval Academy.

President Trump’s unwavering support for the Armed Forces is no secret. In 2017, Trump paid homage to fallen soldiers during a somber Memorial Day service, where he said their legacies “will endure forever.”
While laying wreaths on tombstones at Arlington National Cemetery, Trump was approached by a grieving mother who had lost her son in battle.
Alison Malachowski is the mom of Staff Sgt. Jimmy Malachowski, who was killed in 2011. Mrs. Malachowksi said she was heartbroken that Barack Obama never acknowledged her son’s sacrifice.
“Mr. Trump, my son was killed in Afghanistan in 2011, and nobody made any effort to acknowledge it,” Malachowski said.
“I did,” Trump replied.
“It means a lot to me, it really does,” Mrs. Malachowksi said. “My son loved this country very, very much. Jimmy knew he wasn’t coming home. And he said, ‘Mama, I hope that people don’t forget that I lived.’ If you could just remember Jimmy, that would mean so much to me.”
“I will remember,” President Trump promised. “I will remember.”
