Portland’s Democratic mayor may be looking for a new place to live.

Mayor Ted Wheeler reportedly will be moving out of his Portland neighborhood after a violent demonstration at the high-rise condominium building on Monday which saw windows broken and fires set on the property. Wheeler expressed his regret over the destruction in an email to other residents of the building in the city’s Pearl District.

“I want to express my sincere apologies for the damage to our home and the fear that you are experiencing due to my position,” the mayor write, according to OregonLive.com.

“It’s unfair to all of you who have no role in politics or in my administration,” he added, saying it would be “best for me and for everyone else’s safety and peace” for him to relocate.

Multnomah County property records indicate that Wheeler bought the two-bedroom unit in 2017 and paid $840,000 at the time. The 16-story building has 114 units and retail space on the bottom floor, according to OregonLive.

As the mayor once again refused President Donald Trump’s offer of federal assistance to deal with the ongoing rioting and violent protests in his city, demonstrators descended on his neighborhood and vandalized property, setting off fireworks in front of the apartment complex and burning objects.

The violence continued after a deadly turn of events on Saturday when a member of the conservative Patriot Prayer organization was murdered in cold blood by a self-described Black Lives Matter supporter and antifa member. Wheeler, who has failed to reign in the lawlessness in his city that has raged for nearly 100 consecutive nights, blamed the incident on the president.

“Do you seriously wonder, Mr. President, why this is the first time in decades that America has seen this level of violence? It’s you who have created the hate and the division,” Wheeler said during a press conference Sunday.

Trump has blasted the Democrat leader as well as Oregon Gov. Kate Brown for refusing federal help and allowing the rioting to continue while claiming the protests are mostly peaceful.

“Ted Wheeler, the wacky Radical Left Do Nothing Democrat Mayor of Portland, who has watched great death and destruction of his City during his tenure, thinks this lawless situation should go on forever. Wrong! Portland will never recover with a fool for a Mayor,” Trump tweeted.

Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf fired off a direct letter to Wheeler on Monday.

“I urge you to prioritize public safety and to request federal assistance to restore law and order in Portland,” Wolf wrote in the letter. “We are standing by to support Portland. At the same time, President Trump has made it abundantly clear that there will come a point when state and local officials fail to protect its citizens from violence, the federal government will have no choice but to protect our American citizens.”

Acting DHS Deputy Secretary Ken Cuccinelli told Fox Business host Stuart Varney that Wheeler had not yet responded to the letter.

“He’s probably busy picking out real estate agents,” he quipped on Wednesday.

“This is a law enforcement failure and it’s a law enforcement solution,” Cuccinelli said of the Portland situation, adding that the city is “intentionally” and “willfully” not being policed properly by local authorities.

“Partisanship shouldn’t have anything to do with this,” he added, saying it’s a “simple solution” that Wheeler and Brown refuse to implement. Cuccinelli also acknowledged that there are “hundreds” of federal investigations going on into the riots and who may be funding them.
