Trump supporters grabbed their popcorn to enjoy the circular firing squad after MSNBC opinion host Joy Reid got blasted by congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib for saying Trump supporters are so radicalized that they’re just like violent Muslims.

The controversy erupted after Reid parroted the new Democratic talking point, which is to blame Trump supporters for the left-wing riots by Black Lives Matter and Antifa thugs.

Joy compared President Trump to a radical imam who encourages his followers to commit acts of terrorism:

“When leaders—let’s say in the Muslim world, talk a lot of violent talk and encourage their supporters to commit violence—including on their own bodies—in order to win against whoever they decide is the enemy, we in the U.S. media describe that as ‘radicalizing’ these people, particularly when they’re radicalizing young people.

That’s how we talk about the way Muslims act. When you see what Donald Trump is doing, is that any different from what we describe as radicalizing people?”

Reid suggested that all Muslims are potential terrorists, and was immediately accused of being Islamophobic by Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib.

Omar said Reid was spewing “hurtful and dangerous” rhetoric and demanded an apology.

Omar tweeted: “This kind of casual Islamophobia is hurtful and dangerous. We deserve better and an apology for the painful moment for so many Muslims around our country should be forthcoming.”

Rashida Tlaib doubled-down on Omar’s angry rebuke of Reid and also demanded an apology:

“These words feed into the harmful anti-Muslim rhetoric and actions that we continue to see in this country. It is even more painful to hear it from someone I admire. We deserve an apology.”

Ilhan Omar retweeted similar comments from CNN contributor Abdul El Sayed, who remarked: “Sad that even our friends want to characterize all Muslims based on stereotypes driven by those who hate us.”

Omar also retweeted sharia advocate Linda Sarsour‘s diss of anti-Trump Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin, who defended Reid.

Sarsour sniffed: “You don’t get to decide what’s offensive to Muslims.”

Left-wing reporter Jordan Chariton spotlighted the Left’s hypocrisy:

“If Tucker Carlson said about Muslims what Joy Reid just did, there would be an immediate “Fire Tucker” hashtag going among “The Resistance.” They all will be silent on this though.”

Newsweek’s Naveed Jamali was on the MSNBC panel when Reid made her Islamophobic comments. Jamali defended her, presumably so Joy will keep inviting him back on her show.

For the record, Jamali has also defended the Muslim Brotherhood, which has ties to terrorist organizations such as ISIS and al-Qaeda.

A Muslim attorney reacted by trashing Jamali, saying he’s not Muslim and he “works with US government entities who are killing Muslims and also hangs out with Zionists.”

A Palestinian activist posted a Newsweek article showing that Reid previously wrote anti-Muslim blog posts, in addition to her anti-gay screeds.

“I am not surprised that Joy Reid is once again caught up in an Islamophobic scandal. She has done this before.”

After being dragged on Twitter for dissing one of the Left’s sacred cows, Reid backtracked, saying her anti-Muslim comments were “distorted.”

It’s unlikely MSNBC will punish Reid since she was recently given her own daily show amid an industry-wide push — in media and entertainment — to promote black women to quell the Black Lives Matter riots.

Reminder: Sharia advocate Linda Sarsour (whom Ilhan Omar retweeted) called on Muslims to declare a “jihad” on Trump and urged all Muslims to “stay perpetually outraged” and not assimilate into the Western nations they live in:

“As the Muslim community in these United States of America, we have to stay perpetually outraged.  Our No. 1 priority is to protect OUR community. It is not to assimilate. Our top priority is to please Allah, and only Allah.”

Muslim congressman Andre Carson also projects a Muslim takeover of the US government.
