Move over, Jussie Smollett and Bubba Wallace! Another obscure leftist has confessed to staging her own kidnapping to gain sympathy and raise her profile.
Sabrina Belcher, 29, is a Democrat candidate running for mayor of Sumter, South Carolina.
This week, she was arrested and charged with conspiracy and filing a false police report of a felony as part of a desperate effort to win sympathy votes.
“She’s a Democrat. Naturally,” one Twitter user quipped.
Sabrina Belcher – running for mayor of Stumpter, SC – faked her own kidnapping to get sympathy votes. What is happening to America?!

The Sumter Police Department said Belcher and her accomplice Christopher James Eaddy staged and filmed a fake kidnapping and beating to bolster her chances of winning the mayoral election.
What’s even more sinister is that Belcher tried to blame one of her opponents for the fake crime.
During her hoax video, Belcher reportedly blamed one of her five opponents for the attack. While police didn’t identify who the opponent was, their investigation showed that Belcher had planned to smear all of them.
In the end, the hoax unraveled and Belcher confessed that she had faked the crime.
The brouhaha erupted on August 18, when Belcher breathlessly told police that she had been attacked by a man she didn’t know. She also claims the man tried to kidnap and rob her.
Naturally, Sabrina Belcher livestreamed the entire fake incident on Facebook.
She insisted that she was injured and claimed the man broke out her car windows during the attack. Belcher was rushed to a hospital and then released.
In a statement, Sumter Police Chief Russell Roark slammed Belcher for stoking hysteria and for wasting police resources with her fake crime report.
“They staged a kidnapping and beating in order to garner publicity, sympathy and votes in the November election. This was simply an effort to create disorder and discontent in our community for personal gain.”
Roark continued: “As a result, a valuable number of resources — including personnel, man-hours of the police department as well as local medical professionals — were wasted based on false information.”
Belcher is competing with five other candidates for the Sumter, South Carolina mayoral race. She has yet to drop out.
Actor James Woods joked that Belcher should be considered for a People’s Choice Award.

The United States has so much “systemic racism” that black people have to stage fake hate crimes against themselves.
Babba Wallace and Jussie Smollet represent everything that's wrong with today's woke culture. Their so obsessed with wanting to be victim martyrs they end up hurting the very social causes they advocate for. #BubbaSmollett #BubbaWallaceHoax #BubbaHoax pic.twitter.com/zpn0sI8HYy

In 2019, Fox News host Greg Gutfeld warned that left-wing hoax crimes are becoming more common because the media encourage them with their nonstop lionization of victimhood.
Gutfeld said Jussie Smollett was the creation of the left-wing media, which showers adulation on any liberal minority who claims to be a victim.
At the same time, the left-wing press ignores or downplays the countless instances of conservatives (white or minority) being beaten or killed because it doesn’t promote the Left’s race-baiting narrative.
Gutfeld said: “Smollett was the perfect victim for the media that deems any skepticism heresy. That’s why these hoaxes are not rare. It’s the press orgy that attracts them. CNN, the Washington Post, the LA Times, BuzzFeed, the Huffington Post, the Daily Beast, Rolling Stone, Slate, ABC, and poor Newsweek. They ate it all up.”
Gutfeld continued: “Those hoaxes, they’re easy to find. Although the media wishes you wouldn’t look. They want you to forget them like they do every day so they can commit the same damn mistake tomorrow.”
