Legendary pop star Cher noted on social media Wednesday she had tried to volunteer to work at a local Post Office but was unable to do so because of rules requiring vetting of employees.
“Can ppl volunteer at post office!?” she wrote on Twitter.
“NO, I’M NO [sic] KIDDING…COULD I VOLUNTEER AT MY POST OFFICE!?” she added.

In a follow-up, the 74-year-old pop star claimed she contacted two Post Offices in Malibu, Calif., told them who she was, and asked if they “take volunteers.” She added that a postal supervisor informed her that the USPS could not use volunteers and that workers first had to pass a background check and be fingerprinted.
OK,Called 2 post offices In Malibu. They were polite.
I Said”Hi This Is Cher,& I Would like to know If you ever take Volunteers⁉️Lady Said She Didn’t Know & Gave Me # Of Supervisor.I Called & Said Hi This is Cher Do U Accept volunteers.”NO,Need

“IS NO ONE GOING TO HELP ME WITH POST OFFICE,” a seemingly frustrated Cher added.
The singer’s plea comes as Democrats and their supporters in the media and entertainment industries push a conspiracy theory that President Donald Trump is working to sabotage the Postal Service ahead of the November elections in order to subvert mail-in balloting.
Earlier this week, conservative pundit and former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino blasted pop star Taylor Swift for making the claim.
“Trump’s calculated dismantling of USPS proves one thing clearly: He is WELL AWARE that we do not want him as our president. He’s chosen to blatantly cheat and put millions of Americans’ lives at risk in an effort to hold on to power,” she tweeted Saturday.
“‘We’ do not want him? Speak for yourself and your ignorant, elitist, pampered friends. Don’t mistake your obvious musical talents for an ability to decipher how working Americans feel. You don’t know s**t,” Bongino responded.
In a Tuesday column at Fox News, former GOP Rep. Jason Chaffetz dismantled the conspiracy theory by explaining that the president is out of the loop when it comes to U.S. Postal Service operations.
He also said the president has been right to voice concerns over mass mail-in voting, which Democrats have been pushing, because it is ripe for mass voter fraud.
“Swirling and sudden concerns about the United States Postal Service (USPS) have arisen from Democrats who are wildly accusing President Trump of cheating and manipulating the Postal Service in his favor,” he wrote.
“Conveniently they forget to mention the president is more than an arms-length away from how we vote, and the Postal Service is not under the thumb of his control. Senate Democrats joined Republicans to unanimously install postal leadership — of which, one is an Obama appointee,” Chaffetz added.
“Sending out millions of ballots without authenticating the inbound ballots is ripe for massive fraud. Democrats have desperately been seeking to legalize ‘ballot harvesting’ (the collection and submission of ballots by someone other than the voter and without authentication) and other nefarious activities,” the former Utah congressman explained.
As for Cher’s offer to volunteer at her local post office, not everyone was on board.
Maybe normal people can, but vicious haters like (you) @cher are probably better off staying home, and not possibly tainting the election. I wouldn't trust you to handle Republican ballots.

Right. Then, bots like you could screw up the process. Volunteer to create havoc and doubt in the process. I don’t think so.
