Portland’s Democrat Mayor, Ted Wheeler, finally condemned the violent leftist riots that have been tearing his city apart for 70 straight days.
“When you commit arson with an accelerant in an attempt to burn down a building that is occupied by people who you have intentionally trapped inside, you are not demonstrating. You are attempting to commit murder,” Wheeler said at a press conference.
Wheeler then urged Antifa and Black Lives Matter rioters to curb their criminal savagery—not because they’re hurting people or breaking the law—but because their brutality proves President Trump is right.
“Don’t think for a moment that if you are participating in this activity, you are not being a prop for the reelection campaign of Donald Trump. Because you absolutely are,” Wheeler said.
Wheeler then urged left-wing rioters to stay home so they won’t help President Trump’s reelection bid.
“You are creating the B-roll film that will be used in ads nationally to help Donald Trump during this campaign,” Wheeler said. “If you don’t want to be part of that, then don’t show up.”
Portland has been under siege by radical extremists with Antifa and Black Lives Matter, who have torched police precincts, federal courthouses, and public/private property in the name of “racial equality.”
The left-wing hoodlums have also assaulted cops by throwing deadly projectiles and aiming blinding lasers at policemen’s eyes.
Amid this barbaric anarchy, a riot was declared on August 5, causing Ted Wheeler—an Antifa/Black Lives Matter apologist—to finally denounce the violence.
“I believe that city staff could have died last night,” Wheeler said. “I cannot and I will not tolerate that. This is not peaceful protest. This is not advocacy to advance reforms.”
Wheeler also urged actual peaceful protesters to avoid Antifa and Black Lives Matter hubs or they could get hurt or killed.
“If you are a nonviolent demonstrator and you don’t want to be part of intentional violence, please stay away from these areas,” Wheeler said. “Our community must say that this violence is not Portland, that these actions do not reflect our values and these crimes are distracting from reform, not advancing.”
Portland Fire Lieutenant Damon Simmons (who’s black) told reporters that leftist rioters have been trying to murder people by trapping them inside buildings and then setting fire to them.
“Hurting people and trying to trap people in a building and burn them up is just completely awful,” Lt. Simmons said.
Predictably, Democrats defended Mayor Wheeler’s ineptitude and blamed President Trump for the left-wing race riots.
Fox News’ commentator Juan Williams laughably claimed that the Left has not been running cover for Black Lives Matter and Antifa thugs who are burning own Democrat-controlled cities, but he met some resistance from former prosecutor Trey Gowdy.
“We’ve heard Democrats refer to law enforcement as “Stormtroopers” and “the Gestapo.” Where’s the criticism on the left for shooting lasers and attempting to blind police officers, for hurting innocent victims including ones using a walker. Why not? Are we just not hearing it? Is it there and the media’s not covering it? Where is the outrage on the left?” Gowdy pressed Williams.
“People here say Ted Wheeler was negligent or something, but I think he’s very clear in saying that what those people were doing was violent and it was potentially murderous,” Williams said on “The Five.”

Williams then said the rioters should curb their arson and assaults not because it’s illegal and immoral, but because it would help President Trump.
“I do think that Wheeler’s right when he says that the Trump campaign wants those videos and he’s trying to use them to say to [Antifa and Black Lives Matter rioters are violent],” Williams said. “Because Trump wants to undermine the power of the peaceful protests in this country. And the way to do it is to point at people who are misbehaving and engaged in illegal activity.”
Gowdy went on to question Williams on the timing of the tepid condemnation of violence, arguing that it should have happened long before the “attempted murder” Wheeler mentions.
“Well, Juan, I guess my question is, waiting until attempted murder is on the table is a long time to wait. I mean, you gotta jump over a lot of other crimes – arson and assault – to get to attempted murder,” he pointed out. “Where was the criticism thirty days ago? Forty-five days ago? I mean everybody’s against murder for the most part. How about the other stuff leading up to it?”
The liberal deflected from the former representative from South Carolina’s points, only to blame the federal agents who were assaulted after they allegedly “showed up for no reason” to defend a federal courthouse under siege.
