Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) introduced a bill that would block public schools teaching the New York Times’ race-baiting 1619 Project from receiving federal funding.

Nikole Hannah-Jones is the author of the 1619 Project. The half-black, half-white New York Times blogger has slammed the white race as “barbaric devils” and savage “bloodsuckers.”
Hannah-Jones has also argued that the rioting and looting by Black Lives Matter agitators “is not violence” because it’s justified.

Senator Cotton said the 1619 Project — which teaches that the United States is racist and evil to its core — is a defamatory, race-hustling attempt to reframe history. 1619 is the year that slaves were brought to the United States.
The 1619 Project claims America wasn’t a democracy until blacks made it one.
The project’s goal is to rewrite history to state that America wasn’t founded in 1776 on the lofty ideal of freedom, but rather, it was founded in 1619 for the purpose of enslaving and persecuting blacks.
This thesis has been widely slammed as absurd by both left-leaning and right-leaning historians.
“The New York Times’s 1619 Project is a racially divisive, revisionist account of history that denies the noble principles of freedom and equality on which our nation was founded,” Cotton said. “Not a single cent of federal funding should go to indoctrinate young Americans with this left-wing garbage.”
Tom Cotton is an attorney who graduated from Harvard Law School and was a captain in the U.S. Army.
Cotton’s bill — the Saving American History Act of 2020 — would prohibit the use of federal funds to teach the 1619 Project by K-12 schools or school districts.
The 1619 Project’s founder, Nikole Hannah-Jones, has repeatedly trashed whites as evil “savages” who are taking advantage of blacks.
Like other gold medalists in the Left’s Victim Olympics, Hannah-Jones blames whites for black poverty and the epidemic of black-on-black crimes.
“The descendants of these savage people [whites] pump drugs and guns into the Black community, pack Black people into the squalor of segregated urban ghettos and continue to be bloodsuckers in our community,” Jones claimed.
Prominent black commentators, like economist Thomas Sowell and author Shelby Steele, say the failure of black America is due to their embrace of the victim mentality and their refusal to admit the truth.
“[They don’t have] the courage to look at black people and say, ‘You’re not carrying your weight,’” Steele said.
Steele added: “There is no excuse for us [black Americans] being where we are right now. We have let our grievance industry put us in this impossible position where we are a permanent underclass. Before the 1960s, there was no black underclass. That’s a new phenomenon.”
Steele said the permanent black underclass was created by the Left’s race-baiting agenda of encouraging blacks to depend on the government through welfare and affirmative-action programs.
“If you’re not a Democrat who has owned up to all of this history, then you are not legitimate,” Steele said. “Today’s ‘civil rights movement’ does nothing but scream bloody murder.”
Steele said Democrats and the left-wing media are stoking resentment among blacks to trigger a race war to win back the White House.
Steele says the grievance-mongering industry is a lucrative gravy train.
“When people start to talk about systemic racism built into the system, what they’re really doing is expanding the territory of entitlement,” Steele said.

Similarly, economist Thomas Sowell said today’s leftists have been brainwashed because of the left-wing teachings of American public schools.
“They hear the same narrative and are not taught how to test things against facts,” Sowell said. “They’re just taught to repeat these slogans [like “Black Lives Matter”]. And when you try to talk to them in terms of FACTS, they think you’re trying to confuse them.”
It’s the same thing with how leftists and their media minions repeatedly stoke resentment among blacks over slavery. They act like slavery was solely an American institution and that blacks were the only people who were enslaved.
In reality, slavery existed on every continent in the world for centuries before it came to America. Every race was enslaved at some point; slavery is not an experience that is unique to blacks.
To this day, black slavery exists in many Muslim and African countries around the world. But there’s no leftist outrage or media hysteria over the actual systemic racism against blacks in the Middle East or Africa. Why?
Sowell explained: “Because there is no money to be made denouncing it and no political advantages to be gained.”

Dr. Sowell said, “the number of whites who were enslaved in North Africa by the Barbary pirates exceeded the number of Africans enslaved in the United States and in the American colonies before that put together.”
Sowell continued: “When slavery is mentioned, too many people automatically think of whites enslaving blacks. That is not even one-tenth of the story of slavery, which existed on every inhabited continent. The very word “slave” derives from the word for some white people who were enslaved on a mass scale — the Slavs —for more centuries than blacks were enslaved in the Western Hemisphere.”
