While some are still trying to figure out whether Kanye West is actually running for president or not, and if so, who he’s really helping, the rapper is busy with outreach and does he ever know how to draw earned media.

At an event over the weekend in South Carolina, West let loose with an often bizarre monologue that covered a wide array of topics, to include that he and his wife, Kim Kardashian West, were considering aborting their daughter North.

Lost in the drama of the moment was that West was explaining that God had spoken to his heart.

Wearing what appeared to be a bulletproof vest and the number “2020” shaved into his head, the entertainer broke down while talking about the issue.

“I almost killed my daughter!” he cried out hysterically to the crowd, recounting how Kardashian “had the pills in her hand” as they agonized over having the baby in 2013.

He went on to confess that his mother wanted to abort him when she was pregnant, and that it was his father who intervened to effectively save his life.

And while there was plenty of talk about Kanye not being well from a mental health standpoint, and that he’s in need of some help, it’s hard to argue that the message he shared was not heartfelt.

Though he effectively threw his wife under the bus, and his child, according to Piers Morgan, West was sincere in saying he was compelled by God to share such intimate details of his life.

While he was wrong for being a little too open, given the impact of his family, his confession was inspired by a higher power — this is something people frequently succumb to.

Of course, while all hell was about to break loose, what was Kim Kardashian doing?

Selling bathing suits — and her own image — online, as seen in a tweet posted Friday.

Morgan laid into both West and Kardashian in a Daily Mail column, after noting that North is now seven years old and likely “very computer literate.”

He called West’s performance in Charleston “one of the most shocking and disturbing celebrity meltdowns I’ve witnessed,” and stated that he “found the whole thing utterly horrifying and cringe-making.”

Morgan questioned if West gave a moment’s thought to what Kardashian may think of this bombshell revelation becoming public knowledge in such a grotesque way, before asking the obvious question.

“Where is Kim in all this, anyway?” he wrote, before unloading on her:

I know her own publicity-seeking shamelessness knows no bounds, and that she gets a kick – and enormous financial reward – out of the world talking about the most intimate details of her family, however ugly the reasons.

But what happened last night is beyond a joke.

He’s a mentally ill man with a lengthy history of bi-polar episodes who is currently self-imploding before the public’s eyes in a way that should horrify any wife.

Pointing out that Kanye is getting no help from anyone who claims to love him, Morgan said “they’re all just sitting back and watching him humiliate himself on a massive stage.”

Calling for an intervention, he said his family needs to step up, beginning with his wife.

“He needs his family to step up, stop enabling this cr*p, and do something,” Morgan said. “Most importantly Kanye West needs his wife to stop posting titillating pictures of herself to millions of strangers long enough to force him to get the help everyone can see he so urgently requires.

“Kim Kardashian must do something that she has so far in her life shown zero desire or ability to do: take a family crisis back behind closed doors and save her husband from himself.”
