Members of the left are upset that Attorney General Bill Barr has appointed an immigration judge who actually respects and believes in America’s immigration laws.

“The judge, Matthew J. O’Brien, was officially named to his new position in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR) in June — but was just formally inducted into the largest ever corps of immigration judges along with 45 others,” Law & Order, a far-left news website, complained Saturday.

“‘From 2016 to 2020, he served as the director of research at the Federation for American Immigration Reform.’ … The group, known in immigration law circles by its acronym, FAIR, has a history of connections to hard-line immigration policies.”

As news of the appointment, which happened Friday, spread, so did the smears.

Look:

O’Brien is neither a white supremacist nor a racist. Nor is the organization he used to work for, the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), a racist, white supremacist or anti-immigrant organization.

Leftists believe otherwise because of the lies peddled by the repeatedly discredited, radical propaganda group known as the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

In reality, FAIR is a legitimate 41-year-old non-profit focused on pushing for intelligent, sane and sustainable immigration policies.

“FAIR engages in community outreach to inform affected communities of how national immigration policies affect their own situation, and invites them to engage in a meaningful dialogue on how to shape immigration policies for the 21st Century and beyond,” the non-profit’s web page reads.

“FAIR seeks to reduce overall immigration to a more normal level. Reducing legal immigration levels from well over one million at present to a very generous 300,000 a year over a sustained period will allow America to manage growth, address environmental concerns, and maintain a high quality of life. FAIR puts the interests of American citizens and future generations ahead of big business and partisan demands.”

Nothing about this reeks of racism. Conservative commentator Michelle Malkin, the brown-skinned daughter of Philippine immigrants, shares FAIR’s concerns about immigration levels currently being too high, particularly amid the coronavirus pandemic. She also boasts concerns about illegal alien caravans.

Case in point:

But according to the SPLC and the far-leftists who subscribe to its defamatory propaganda, anyone who shares even a single concern about immigration is a white supremacist, if not a full-fledged Nazi. Even if that person isn’t white.

Leftists are also upset because O’Brien actually believes in and respects America’s federation immigration laws.

For example, watch below as Aaron Reichlin-Melnick of the American Immigration Council, a far-left group that doesn’t respect America’s federal immigration laws, complains about all the “anti-immigration” articles O’Brien has written for FAIR.

Thankfully for those Americans who prioritize truth over propaganda, AG Barr clearly doesn’t subscribe to the SPLC, and he does believe in and respect America’s immigration laws, as demonstrated by his appointment of O’Brien.

As for the critics, the Twitter user below seems to sum up their sentiment to a T:

What horror indeed.
