Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a Somali immigrant like far-left Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar, has recommended that the Ilhan Omars and Alexandra Ocasio-Cortezs of this world embark on a “Scared Straight!”-like visit to the “real world” to learn what real injustice looks and feels like.
Speaking Friday afternoon on Fox News’ “The Daily Briefing,” Ali offered this recommendation while speaking about Omar’s recent call for “dismantling” the U.S. “economy and political system.”
“I listen to someone like Ilhan Omar … she’s in Congress, the United States Congress, and she’s saying why don’t we dismantle the whole thing — the economic system, the political system — and it makes you wonder,” she said.
“Why flee from Mogadishu, why flee from anarchy, why free from oppression and then come to the United States and then do all your best to turn Minnesota and the U.S. into Mogadishu? It’s one of the things that I’d like to ask her.”

Omar’s family fled war-torn Somalia as refugees back in the 1990s. Yet ever since the first day she arrived here, the congresswoman’s been complaining about this alleged hellhole.
“I don’t think we need a revolution. I think what we have — the American Declaration, the American Constitution, the American values, our system — gives us the tools to address social injustice, to address inequality, to address all the issues that we face,” Ali continued.
“And I think that these movements … I think we need to resist and to say look, you’ve come to America in search of freedom, you’ve come to America in search of equality. We find it here. Our system is not perfect. We can fix it, and we do it through conversations.”
But the increasingly radical members of the far-left refuse to engage in good faith conversation and debate. Instead, they prefer attacking and silencing all opposing voices using smears and lies, something that Ali knows all about.
“What we’re seeing these days is a very loud, in my view, minority who are saying let us not seek solutions through the system we have, but let’s dismantle it. And I am passionately against it,” she added.
“We have to find solutions, and I think we can. Remember, the United States of America is only 244 years old. It is the one nation that has abolished slavery. It is the one nation that has stood up for civil rights and has passed laws and has allocated huge resources to achieving or at least aspiring to achieve full equality.”
America is exceptional, after all.

“I do not believe in guaranteeing equality of outcomes. I believe in equality of opportunity, and it’s the only nation today in the world, and has been for a long time, where you can seek equal opportunity, and where that is encouraged, it’s urged,” Ali continued.
“I know so many philanthropists right now who want to invest in that. I think we should reject and stand up to crazy people who are saying that our system, the United States of America, our America, is made up of systemic racism. If there’s one phrase that really makes me go mad, it’s that word used against America.”
Why? Because America is arguably the “least racist multicultural, multiethnic country in the history of the world,” as noted by Dennis Prager last year. Yet to hear the left tell it, America is a hotbed of racism and bigotry. Fact-check: FALSE.
“The American Constitution, the American system, in fact, gives us all an argument to strive and to aspire to make things better, so the Ilhan Omars of this world, the Ocasio-Cortez’s of this world, I think they need to take time out and travel in the real world, other countries where you don’t have that, where there are really bad systems,” Ali concluded.
Her remarks on Fox came about two weeks after she penned a column for The Wall Street Journal where she wrote a bit about her own journey to America.
“Like millions of immigrants I was drawn by the irresistible allure of a nation forged in pursuit of a universal ideal it had actually succeeded in achieving,” the piece reads.
“Of course we knew there was a sharp tear in America’s vibrant fabric, a legacy of racial prejudice that mocked the ideals of the founding. But the nation’s demonstrated ability to advance beyond that, to mend and improve itself, makes America even more admirable.”
Now contrast this attitude to that of Omar. During an appearance two years ago on “Pod Save America,” she complained about the allegedly unjust and deplorable conditions here in the states she’d encountered on her first day here.
“I saw panhandlers on the side of the streets, there being trash everywhere, and graffiti on the side of the walls,” she complained. “I remember turning to my father and saying, ‘Well, this doesn’t look like the America you promised!”

Every country on Earth, including Somalia, boasts litter, graffiti and panhandlers. But only one country boasts the freedom of speech, the freedom of religion and the freedom of protest all packed into one amazing document, the U.S. Constitution.
