Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick cautioned against the push to use the coronavirus as an excuse to vote by mail, warning that the left will always look to “steal” elections.

The Republican lawmaker spoke out about the danger of the vote-by-mail method, telling SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily that the alternative to in-person voting in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic will create a risk for President Trump’s reelection campaign.

“In my view, the only way Trump loses in November, is if you have a proliferation of voting by mail-in state after state, particularly the swing states,” Patrick told host Alex Marlow during an interview last week.

Trump’s campaign team is “on top of it,” he added, as he noted the difference between normal absentee voting and the new push by the left to push voting through the mail, which he believes will work to Democrats’ favor especially in key states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Wisconsin.

“We have to fight this at all costs,” he said, exposing the trap of arguments contending that it is “safer” to vote by mail in the midst of the pandemic.

“Voting is not about being easier, it is about being fair and accessible. To have enough polling places, to have enough time,” he said. “It’s part of who we are as America to show up and vote.”

Patrick reiterated the danger of removing the ability to vote in person, saying it will cause “absolute pandemonium.”

“It’s wide open for fraud, and the left will take advantage of that and they will steal every election until the end of time,” he said.

Patrick pointed out the many scenarios that could play out in the system the Democrats are advocating, wondering what would stop a person from voting using a ballot mailed to their address but meant for someone else. The lieutenant governor warned how it “can tip the scales to those who would steal elections so it has to be stopped.”

He pointed to a recent interview on Fox News to drive home his point, referring to the president of the Greater New York Black Lives Matter chapter threatening that “if this country doesn’t give us what we want, then we will burn down this system.”

The group’s leader Hawk Newsome justified the use of violence to achieve their goals in an interview with Fox News host Martha MacCallum last week, claiming that “this country is built upon violence.”

“What was the American Revolution? What’s our diplomacy across the globe? We go in and we blow up countries and we replace their leaders with leaders who we like. So for any American to accuse us of being violent is extremely hypocritical,” he said.

Patrick pointed out that this interview showed the extremes the left is willing to go.

“If they’re willing to burn the country down, tear a statue down, you don’t think they’re going to go steal some ballots out of a mailbox?” he asked.

Patrick pointed out that plenty of Americans have been out to reopened stores and restaurants as coronavirus lockdowns have begun to be lifted, contending that this nulls the vote-by-mail argument. He also noted that in some Democrat localities, the governments have been using federal assistance that was intended to relieve the consequences of the coronavirus to push the vote-by-mail plan instead.

With a recent spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in Texas, Patrick spoke to Fox News host Laura Ingraham about the advice being touted by Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading infectious disease expert.

“Locking down doesn’t work! If it did, those two states [California and New York] would be doing better than Texas,” Patrick told Ingraham on Tuesday.

“Fauci said today that he’s concerned about states like Texas that skipped over certain things. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about! We haven’t skipped over anything. The only thing I’m skipping over is listening to him,” he added. “He has been wrong every time on every issue. I don’t need his advice anymore.”
